"Here comes my baby girl. I am so proud of you Violet. " My dad says praising me as ever, as I walk down the stairs towards the dining area.

"Dad... you can stop praising her now, it's been a week already!" my two older brothers whine at the same time complaining. They were both 7 years older than me, identical twins and to think that they would have matured by now. Impossible.

"What? I am proud. I have every right to boast." my dad says kissing my head when I go to hug him. My dad has been singing my prayers in front of everyone because I finished college with good grades.

"Good morning dad. Brats, " I greet my father and glare at the twins ignoring their chatter and take my seat next to my father.

"So, it's your first day today. Are you excited, nervous, happy? " my dad shoots, giving me all of his attention, as I pile up my plate with food.

"Mm-hmm," I reply munching on my breakfast.

"I am so excited! " My dad mumbles like a child getting his favorite toy, whilst my brothers facepalm themselves.

"Dad, how come you never appreciate or compliment us?" Richy, one of my brothers asks complaining.

This is exactly what has been happening since I was born or since our mother died. That happened when I was 3 years old. She was in an accident, my brothers were 10 then. Since that day, our dad had taken care of us, without being selfish or mourning his wife's death by neglecting his children. No, he took care of us and never complained, never let us complain. Yet on the other hand we never stopped with our whining and complained every time his parenting turned to the extreme. He was playing the role of both the parents you know!

We loved him, he loved us and every day we argued over who he loved the most. It was me though. He loved me the most. He tells me that in secret so my brothers don't feel sad. So don't tell them ok?. There is no way you guys will tell so anyways, back to the story.

"I am proud of you brats, but there is no need to inflate your egos now, is there?"  Dad smirks looking at them and I laugh.

It was my turn to speak now.
"So dad, I was thinking... now that I have finished college and I am starting to work from today, maybe I could find my own place-"

Two dramatic loud gasps stop me before I could finish. I close my eyes take a deep breath and glare at those who interrupted me.

All I wanted is to get this adult life on track, step by step but these morons can not digest my happiness without intervening or causing any problems.

"You want to leave your family and live somewhere else?" the twins exclaimed at the same time hands on their chest as if they had practiced this a hundred times. Maybe they had.

"My child, you want to leave your old man alone?" my dad feigns pain. " Ever since your mom died, I-"

"You guys do this every time!" I complain stomping my feet still sitting on the chair. They always used their emotional family drama to blackmail me.

"Coz we know how lazy you are and we don't want you to be living in a pile of garbage," Ricardo says next.

"Hey! That's not true. I can be as active as a dog if I want to be. "

"We doubt that," they all say at the same time looking at their plates, avoiding my eyes.

"But you guys have your own place in the city," I argue trying to put my application forward this time. Nobody wants me to live on my own. How can I enjoy my adult life if they won't let me live alone like one?
