Sirius being to shy to say "I love you" back to Remus. So for the first month he says "je t'aime." Among other phrases in French that's he's too embarrassed to say in English.

Whenever Remus asks he makes up some silly translation like 'I said your hair is a mess.' Or 'I said you need to brush your teeth.'

Remus gets annoyed and secretly started to learn French to understand what Sirius is saying. After months of studying he finally understands bits and pieces of what Sirius says - and he most definitely knows what 'je t'aime' means.

Finally, One afternoon Sirius says "je t'aime. Tu es mon Monde." (I love you. You are my world).

Remus turns to him and grins. "I love you too. Tu es les étoiles." (You are the stars).

His accent was horrid but the words made Sirius' eyes go wide. "When did you -!"

"I started studying a few months ago."

"You-! I can't believe you!" Sirius' face was beet red. He didn't talk to Remus the rest of the day from embarrassment and Remus keep saying 'Je t'aime.' In a horrible accent, which only made the older boy more frazzled.
