The Fourth of July. A time of fireworks, sparklers, picnics, and for those in the Valley- Valley Fest. Or if you were Finley- just another night in, with her dad grilling burgers. Now don't get it wrong, her dad made fantastic burgers, but that in turn meant that fair food couldn't hold a torch to it. However, that didn't mean they didn't go to Valley Fest in the afternoon. Cause according to her dad, fair food was still good enough for in an in-between snack, in fact it was a must.

She knew that Hawk and Demetri, and a couple other Cobra Kais were going a little later, but Miguel said he wasn't going, something about not feeling well. Finley wasn't entirely sure though because she knew he had gone to practice already. Whatever the reason, he wasn't going, and Finley was leaving the fair shortly anyway as soon as they finished walking around. They came for the experience and the food, her brother and she hadn't played the games in years. Basically once they realized it was a waste of money, that some were rigged, and the prizes sucked, they stopped.

"You want anything else?" Finley's dad spoke up as they walked down the street.

Finley shook her head, and her mom and brother gave similar indications. Her phone buzzed in her pocket and she pulled it out, expecting it to be Anna finally responding to her. Lines formed on her forehead as she furrowed her brow. He never texted her.

Demetri 🦉
Are you still at the fair?

Finley
We're heading out now

Demetri 🦉
Is there any way you
can stay?

Finley's brow furrowed even more. Why on earth did he want her to hang out with him? Sure they had become friends, much to Finley's surprise, but this was weird for him.

Finley
Why?

Demetri 🦉
Cobra Kai is apparently
doing some demonstration
tonight so they have to
practice now

Finley
Ok?

Demetri 🦉
Which means I'm stuck
with Moon. Alone.

Finley
Ohhhhh

Demetri 🦉
Yeah
Don't leave me alone

Finley
Let me check with my
parents                         .

She looked up from her phone. Her brother was leading the group and her parents were a few feet in front of her. Honestly the answer could go either way. There were 4 burgers that her mom had thawed out, so she knew it was gonna be a little rude to skip out. But they had dinner together pretty much ever night, so surely just this once would be okay. Plus her mom was always saying it wasn't nice to decline hanging out with friends unless she had a good reason.

"Hey, uh," Her parents turned their heads, indicating they were listening. "My friend texted and wants to know if I can hang out."

"Here?" Her mom questioned as they continued walking through the crowd.

"Yeah. Probably a couple hours cause we're meeting up with Miguel and Eli later."

"And how are you getting home?"

Her mom. Always with the logical questions. Honestly she wasn't sure. She was hoping one of her friends could, and if all else failed, she knew Ms. Diaz would give her a ride.

"I'll probably just get a ride from Miguel's mom, but I'll text you and let you know once I know for sure."

"Okay." Her mom nodded her head as they stopped off to the side so they were out of the way of the crowd. "Just let us know."
