Graduation had passed. We were finally full-fledged adults. I was still working for Hange. Pieck and I moved into an apartment together not long after. It was close to the mountains and we had a clear view of the city. I loved living there. The apartment wasn't too small either. It was just right. I inherited a lot of my mother's belongings, including her money. Not that I was going to spend it without any means.

I woke up, to a beautiful morning. There were some baby birds by the window. Pieck was still asleep next to me. I looked at her sleeping form. She was ethereal. Asleep or not. Yesterday, we had been busy planning a housewarming party. We were going to need a lot of food since Sasha was coming. Pretty much everyone we knew was invited. We already had lots of things ready, but we still had to go buy some more groceries and whatnot. It wasn't too late, so I let Pieck sleep in for a little, whilst I fixed us some breakfast. Grilled mackerel with rice. It wasn't much, but it was easy to make. Not to mention, absolutely delicious. Hearing the searing of the mackerel, a very drowsy Pieck stepped into the kitchen. She was wearing an oversized shirt.

"Good morning, Y/n!" I smiled as she hugged me from behind.

"What's cooking, good-looking?" I chuckled at her cheesy line. She was always one to say stuff like this out of the blue.

"Grilled mackerel with rice. Take a seat. It's done in just a bit." She squeezed me and let go, taking a seat at our kitchen island. The smell of the juicy mackerel filled the kitchen. It smelled amazing. If I would say so myself, of course.

"Breakfast is served." I placed two plates of mackerel with rice down on the island. One in front of Pieck and one in front of me. I stood up whilst eating. That way, we could eat across from each other. Of course, we had a dinner table, but this was easier. We weren't the lazy types either. It wasn't like we just hung out on our couch all day.

"This is as scrumptious as always, chef Y/n." Pieck teased and took another bite out of the fish. I stuck my tongue out at her and made a sound. She only laughed in response.

"So, Y/n. The store is waiting. I'll start decorating here, you can go get the stuff we're missing." I nodded and quickly finished up my meal. I filled a glass with water and chugged it. After that, I hopped in the shower and found some clothes to wear. I decided to go with a fancy, but casual look. House warming parties weren't like balls, but they weren't like kickbacks either. Not. I remembered Eren's kickback. Armin and I played beer pong against Reiner and Annie. I was always amazing at beer pong. I smiled, reminiscing about it.

"See you, Pieck! I'm heading out now!" I yelled and opened the door.

"Love you!" She replied, somewhat screaming. I still didn't have a license, nor a car. Which left me no other choice, but to travel by public transportation. The metro was usually packed during this hour, but I had to endure it just for today. The sun was shining, and it was more than just hot out. The sounds of cicadas were close to driving me nuts.

"Summer really hits the spot, huh?" I said to myself and checked my phone. I had a new message from Pieck.

Pieck-a-boo💞
We ran out of milk. You wouldn't mind getting that too, would you?

I sighed and rolled my eyes, letting out a slight chortle.

Anything for you mommy

I put my phone away and hurried down the steps to the metro. I pressed my card against the scanner, and it let me through. Luckily, I was all of 10 minutes early. I was scared I might've missed it. I saw someone on a rug next to the map sign. She was skinny and a cop was placed in front of her. It was probably someone homeless. Police usually removed the homeless from the metro, to escort them somewhere safe. Upon closer inspection, I recognized the person sitting there. It was Chloe. Chloe Palmer. I felt bad for her, but she was awful to me. I rummaged through my purse to find some coupons. I found a coupon for free pizza. I was planning to use it for the upcoming weekend, but she probably needed it more than I did. I made my way towards her, holding the coupon in one hand. I crouched down to greet her. She gasped when she saw me.
