)First Meeting The Whole Ordeal(

Today we were going to meet with the surrogate or we were supposedly to go meet with the surrogate Alexandra bailed on me last minute because she apparently had a last minute shooting that couldn't be rescheduled so I was left to drive myself to the clinic I just hoped something would come up so the meeting could be rescheduled to when Alexandra was available but it seemed like that wasn't going to happen because on getting to the clinic.
I was directed to go wait in the brunch area which seemed like a cafeteria to me but on getting there and seeing the place I realized it had a more private setting to it a table of four were arranged in clusters all around the place so I sat by the window at the rear end of the place facing the front so I could see when someone walked in.

Soon after Claire walked down the hallway towards the direction where I sat a loud chuckle in her wake which drew the attention of some people in the cafeteria but she didn't seem to mind I couldn't help but stare at the lady beside her who had a mask on her face she had the most curly raven black hair which she tried so hard to fix in a bun but some tendrils managed to get out, she seemed short especially standing close to Claire who was quite tall for a lady.
On getting to me Claire performs the introduction a smile on her face the whole time

"Alright....this is My client Whom I'm guessing you already know Mr Hugh Sterling and Hugh this is your going to be surrogate Miss Normani Janine" she finished that annoying smirk still on her face

I was expecting her to take off the mask but to my utter confusion she didn't instead she gave me her hand to shake "hello" she said with a breathless tone to it that I wondered if she was faking it on the first touch I came to the conclusion she had very soft hands that I felt could break based on their fragility

But through out our conversation she maintained that tone sometimes it was hard to hear her that I had to ask her "would you mind taking your mask off I find it hard to hear you" at this Claire let out a muffled chuckle and Normani replied with a shake of her head in the negative so firmly I thought she'd break her neck from it.

"I can't I'm sorry it's part of my own terms and conditions I don't feel comfortable showing my face to clients" she said in that same tone of hers.
As if that wasn't enough she seemed to be avoiding eye contact with me it felt weird and unsettling because she had kept her eyes on me the whole time during our conversation but anytime I turned towards her direction she immediately avoided my gaze I was tempted to ask her why she was doing that but before I could I got a call which I excused myself to answer and through out the call I was sure I felt her gaze on me

Checking the caller it was Noah my best friend
"Hey man what's up" I said

"I'm aight it seems you've forgotten your husband once your side babe is around you forget me" he replied as usual with his starting banter in his cocky British accent

"Oh please you know that's not true...hubby"I reply in the same tone only mine a lot more girly at this loud laughter broke out on the other end as the reply came in gasps

"Do....not...try...this again" Noah replied we talked a while after that about a few things here and there

"Anyways man I'll be in New York in a few weeks hopefully" he said to which I decided to tell him about the surrogacy thing then cause it wasn't something to be discussed on the phone but in person "that's great news man..Update me" I said before we both said our goodbyes and then I hung up and made my way back to the group where Claire was laughing so hard I thought she'd gone crazy

"Everything okay" I asked somewhat confused

"Yeah everything's good" she replied a minute after she'd sobered up I nodded before turning my gaze to Normani who as usual refused to meet my gaze

After sitting a solid good thirty minutes I decided to leave cause I couldn't stand being exposed to scrutiny and not be able to scrutinize in return

And so I decided to leave getting up so abruptly that I spilled my drink all over my pants I muttered a few curse words just as Claire spoke up

"Oh my goodness are you okay" she said I couldn't tell if she was concerned or amused by the whole ordeal cause she was smirking as usual

Normani in turn offered me a tissue to help clean my pants as she couldn't help me seeing as it was directly in my crutch area this was a very embarrassing moment so I shoved away the tissue gently might I add before hurriedly walking away very much eager to leave their midst

And that's it for now though
It's a bit plain I know the next one would be better fingers crossed🤞
