I was on the counter, legs crossed as Caledon and I discussed cat names. The kitten also sat on the counter, eating a can of tuna.
"It has to be something as cute as it!" I argued and smiled at my precious kitten.
Caledon stared at the cat with intense eyes, but the animal was unbothered by our staring, just happy to eat.
"How about we call it Storm," I said and reached out to gently touch the gray fur. Caledon frowned and shrugged.
"We have all day to think about it," he said and crossed his arms, trying to think of the perfect name.
I smiled at him without thinking as he hesitantly touched the kitten. I placed my hands under my chin and watched him pet the cat with shocking gentleness.
I wonder if he'd ever touch me like that?
I went stiff at the sudden thought and sighed under my breath, taking the vampire in. He was still as big as ever, but on that note, he was as good-looking as ever too.
His black hair fell into his eyes as he focused on petting the purring kitten. Red eyes narrowed in concentration, full lips slightly parted.
I tore my eyes away, flustered and annoyed at myself. Since when have I been so thirsty I had to stare at every guy I lay eyes on? I wondered and choked as the kitchen door opened.
Caledon grabbed the cat and turned his back on the door, walking into the pantry without a single word. David raised an eyebrow, and I shrugged.
This was normal Caledon behavior, even when he wasn't trying to hide our new baby. "What's up David?" I asked and smiled.
He returned the gesture and took his time in speaking. "I'm happy you've adjusted well, has anyone been giving you a hard time?"
My smile faltered slightly before I forced it to go back the way it was. "No, everything's fine, the interns and staff treat me the same." I lied and jumped off the counter.
It wasn't horrible, most of the people here actually treated me better when they found out. There were a select few that hated me with a passion now though.
Like Monica, which was sad, because I thought we were going to be friends. She had been so nice before she found out I was human.
David nodded, seeming relieved at my lie. "Good, good, now, I know you want to stay in the kitchen, and I'm not asking you to move,"
My eyes went wide. "Then, what are you asking?" I questioned, happy Caledon had stepped out. Goodness knows he would be fighting David right now.
"I was wondering if you'd be willing to help with one of the guest activities?" David asked, a hint of begging in his voice.
I frowned. "You can't find anyone else?" I asked, not wanting to be away from my new darling kitten. David winced.
"Everyone is busy, we have so much going on right now," David said and sighed. "Please?"
I nodded; giving in. "Alright, I don't mind helping out where I can," I told him. David nodded and looked warily in the direction Caledon had gone.
"I'll let you tell Caledon, I'm not suicidal," he told me and chuckled, but it sounded forced. I snorted.
It's hilarious, how basically everyone is terrified of him. I thought and nodded, waving him off.
"I would leave and get a good distance from the kitchen," I warned him and turned, heading to the pantry.
