"But daddy!" Meredith heard Emma yell. Meredith just woke up and had no clue what time it was

"Em, shh! Mommy's sleeping" He whispered but it was too late. She already had woken up

"Der" She tried to yell, but her voice was weak

"Mommy!" Emma heard her and ran inside

"Em!" Derek tried to hold her back

"Hi Em" Meredith smiled softly

"Did she wake you up?" Derek asked as he kissed her lips

"It's okay" Meredith whispered "I should get ready. Help out to make their lunch boxes and get them dressed" Meredith said as Emma snuggled in her arms

"Lunch boxes are prepped, Ava's dressed and ready, only you and Emma have to get ready before we can leave" Derek said

Meredith nodded and tried to push herself up

"Let me help" Derek helped her and slowly started changing her into a warm pair of leggings, a long sleeved shirt and a warm cardigan. Her socks and uggs on her feet and a warm scarf around her neck. "Is this good for now?" Derek asked

"Perfect" She whispered

"Let's go downstairs" Derek wrapped his arm around her waist and helped her downstairs and settled on the couch "You should call Cristina. Meanwhile I'll dress Em and Ava can put on her shoes already" Derek said

"Good" Meredith nodded "Do you have my phone?"

"Here, grab mine" He smiled softly and handed her the phone "We'll be right back" He kissed her forehead

Meredith dialed Cristina's phone number and waited until she would pick up

"Derek?" Cristina's voice was heard

"Hey. It's me" Meredith quietly said "Sorry, I have no clue where my phone is"

"Oh, Mer.. Hi" Cristina breathed

"Derek told you.." Meredith was lost for words

"He-He did, yeah" Cristina replied

"Hmm" Meredith nodded

It kept silent for a bit until Cristina finally started speaking again "I'm trying to arrange that I can come over for a bit"

"Cristina, you didn't have to do-" Meredith said when she felt a stabbing in her stomach. The phone dropped out of her hand, onto the couch. She clutched her stomach and started sobbing in pain. She was unable to do anything else, she couldn't yell for help due to the pain that ripped through her abdomen

"Mer?" Cristina kept yelling but got no response

"Mer? What happened?" Derek ran towards her as he heard her sobs "Talk to me, what happened" He frowned

At first Derek thought it was mainly the emotional pain, which isn't so weird after all, especially not if she'd have to call one of her friends to tell the awful news

"Daddy, what's wrong with mommy?" Ava asked concerned as she and Emma were looking at her in fear

"Mommy's okay" Derek kept calm and tried to let her lay down and that was when he noticed what was wrong. When he touched her stomach she screamed it out in pain

"Daddy?" Emma whimpered

"Ava, Em, go wait in the kitchen please" Derek lifted them up and quickly carried them to the kitchen "Wait here, I'm gonna help mommy. I'll be back in a bit" Derek said, he grabbed the supplies and ran back into the living room. He inserted some heavy pain meds that Bailey had given them for moments like this

"It will get better, just wait a bit" Derek held her in his arms as she kept sobbing and waited till they get quieter

"I-I.. The girls" She forced out "Y-You should.. look after them-" She sobbed

"They're okay" He nodded

"Don't- Ahhh" She groaned as the pain got worse "Der-"

Derek's phone started ringing so he quickly picked up while still holding onto Meredith

"Derek, what happened? Is Meredith okay?" Cristina gasped

"Her stomach but she's.. okay." Derek didn't wanna worry his wife's friend

"Can you please keep me updated?" Cristina asked concerned but recognizing the tension in Derek's voice to know she should drop it for now

"Of course" Derek agreed and hung up, immediately calling his mom "Mom, can you please come and get the girls and bring them to school? Mer's in so much pain-" He started explaining

"Derek, of course. We're on our way" Carolyn assured him "Look after Meredith, Okay?" She said before hanging up the phone

"Mom and dad are coming" Derek whispered to Meredith who nodded in response

"I can't do this" Meredith complained as she keeps clutching her stomach

"Shh, it'll get better" Derek softly rubbed her back

Not that much later Carolyn and Christopher ran in

"Mom, can you go check on the girls in the kitchen?" Derek asked as he didn't move from his spot next to Meredith

"Of course" She nodded and looked with sad eyes at Meredith

"Meredith, I'm gonna get you your heating pad" Christopher said

"There's one on the stairs" Derek said and his dad ran to grab it. He plugged it in and held it on Meredith's stomach as they waited for it to get warm

"I-It's okay" She nodded "G-Girls"

"They are okay, mom is with them. Just close your eyes" Derek instructed

Meredith closed her eyes and quickly fell asleep because of all the pain meds

"Fuck" Derek muttered and started crying

"She'll be okay, son" Christopher rubbed Derek's back

"She doesn't deserve this" Derek whispered

"She doesn't" Christopher sighed "We're gonna bring the girls to school and we'll go pick them up later. Amelia said she would be here by then as well, in case you'll need some help"

"Thanks" Derek sighed

"Take care of yourself and Meredith, son. We'll go take care of your girls" Christopher smiled as he saw Carolyn walking towards them, both girls ready, their backpacks on their backs. Giving Derek a tight hug 

"Can we kiss mommy goodbye?" Ava asked, feeling slightly insecure about her question

"Of course" Derek smiled softly and watched them place gently kisses on her cheek "We'll see you this afternoon. Mommy and I will be here when Nana and Poppa bring you over. We love you"

"Bye! Love you too" The two girls walked out with Carolyn and Christopher while Derek was brushing his hand through Meredith's hair as she was asleep due to the heavy pain meds she had gotten earlier
