"Mom called. Ava's fever is gone, it was just a small bug" Mark told Derek

"I'm gonna keep Mer in her room anyway for the first days" Derek sighed

"I guess it's been a while since you slept in your own room" Mark chuckled

"It will be good to be close to the hospital" Derek sighed

"Teddy said her lungs sound clear" Mark rubbed Derek's back softly

"I desperately want things to go back to before" Derek shook his head

"We all want that.. I hate seeing her like that" Mark shook his head

"Derek, did you sign them?" Bailey referred to the discharge papers

"Yeah. Can I take her.. home?" Derek asked

"Of course. Just.. bring her in if you have a bad feeling. I'm not a fan of this" Bailey sighed

"We will" Mark nodded

Carolyn, Christopher and the girls had showered. Carolyn had cleaned the whole house to make sure all the germs would be gone and made sure the bed in Derek's old room was changed. Carolyn had made sure to put Meredith's favourite sheets on which were also the warmest

"Mommy's here!" Emma gasped

"Hey girls, come here for a minute" Christopher held their hands as Carolyn opened the door for Derek and Merdith to enter

"Hi babies" Meredith smiled softly as she wanted to make her way over to them

"Mer, we have to be careful-" Derek reminded her

"I can say hello to my kids!" She weakly snapped

"I missed you mommy" Emma whispered

"I missed you too" Meredith smiled and tried to lower herself but her legs gave out so Derek quickly scooped her in his arms

"Mommy will go rest a bit first" Derek said as his voice cracked and took off to their old bedroom

"Derek, can they lay with us?" Meredith asked softly

"Tomorrow. I want her to not have a fever in 24 hours" Derek sighed and placed her down

"Please" Meredith begged "I need my babies" Meredith whispered

"Maybe after a nap" Derek eventually gave in "Just sleep" He kissed her forehead

Meredith had been asleep the whole day. It was around evening when she woke up but she was barely aware of her surroundings

"Just sleep" Derek whispered and watched as she frowned a bit, probably some pain that flared up once more. He adjusted the nasal cannula a bit before kissing her head

Derek stood up to administer Meredith's tube feeding and pain meds before he quickly went downstairs

"Hi, how are you?" Carolyn softly rubbed her son's back

"Tired" He sighed

"Make sure to sleep a bit tonight"

"I think she's not feeling well" Derek sighed

"Do you want me to check on her tonight?" Carolyn asked as she was filling a plate so Derek could have dinner

"Yeah" Derek nodded

"Here, eat this. I'll sit with her until you're done with eating" Carolyn kissed Derek's head "I told the girls you would come give them a kiss"

"Thanks mom" Derek sighed as he started eating

Carolyn walked upstairs and heard her husband talk silently to Meredith

"The girls asked me to come give you a night night kiss" Christopher said as he placed a kiss on Meredith's forehead

"How're they?" Meredith was barely able to open her eyes

"They have been good. They were a bit upset but we explained. They wanna take good care of their mom" Christopher said as he tucked Meredith in

"I should take care of them" Meredith's voice cracked

"And you're taking care of them but you need to think about yourself as well" Christopher softly said "We all need you, we need you to keep fighting"

"Dad, I'm not gonna get better" Meredith sighed

"If anyone can beat the odds, then it's you" He firmly said

"The third time, I shouldn't even still be here"

"Stop talking like that. You're such an extraordinary person, we all need you. You're our glue"

"I'm so tired" She sighed "Breathing hurts, everything just hurts" She whispered

"A bit longer. You got this" He kissed Meredith's forehead "Nap. I'll stay here until Derek is back" Chridtopher brushed his finger over Meredith's cheek

"Watch out for him" Meredith mumbled "He's having a hard time"

"We are watching out for him. We promise" Cristiopher said softly "But now you really need to sleep some more" Christopher insisted

Throughout the whole night Carolyn and Christopher had taken shifts to check on Meredith so Derek could sleep a bit

"Nana? Wanna see mommy" Emma whispered as they were eating breakfast

"I know sweetheart, we'll have to go see if mommy feels up to it when she's awake" Carolyn softly smiled

"I miss mommy" Emma said

"What happens if mommy dies?" Ava asked after the talk she had with her father

"Mommies don't die" Emma frowned and looked at her grandparents as her lower lip started trembling

"Oh Em. Come here" Christopher lifted the girl in his arms

"I want mommy and daddy" The little girl whimpered

"What's wrong?" Derek asked as he walked into the kitchen

"Daddy!" Ava ran to her father and hugged him

"Hey munchkins. Ava, have you been feeling sick since yesterday?" He asked

"No daddy" She shook her head

"She had no fever since yesterday" Carolyn jumped in

"I think this one needs some time with you" Christopher smiled sadly at his son and handed him his youngest daughter

"What's wrong honey?" Derek asked

"Mommy.. can't.. die" She hiccuped "Mommies.. don't- .. don't.. die"

"Oh Em, let's go sit down for a minute" He carried her towards the living room "Mom, can you go check on Mer?" Derek asked

"Of course" Carolyn nodded

"Emma, can you tell me what's wrong?" Derek asked as he took a seat in one of the small couches in the corner or the living room

"Don't want mommy to die" Emma whispered "Ava said mommy's gonna die"

"Emma I don't want you to think about that" Derek softly rubbed her back

"I wanna see mommy" Emma whimpered

"Honey, mommy needs to rest a lot" Derek said. He was just scared Meredith would get sick

"I miss mommy" Emma sighed and stood up

"Em, stay here please" Derek tried but the little girl ran away despite his try to hold her but then Ava came in the room to throw a fit
