Come on sweetie, we have to get you ready" Carolyn tried to wake up Meredith who was still asleep in her big and warm bed

"Wanna stay home" Meredith muttered

"It will be okay" Addison kissed Meredith's scalp as she changed the scarf that was wrapped around her friend's head

"Okay, here you go" Carolyn said as she slipped Meredith out if the long sleeved shirt she was wearing underneath the already removed two sweaters

"Mom-" Addison gasped as she looked at Meredith

"I know" Carolyn was fighting her tears as Meredith was half asleep on her chest

"Can I help?" Derek asked as he entered the room

"You'll need to help with her lower body" Addison tried to force a smile

"I know. It's bad" Derek sighed

"I'm sorry" Addison rubbed his back as he started slimming off her sweats, the leggings underneath, her socks and eventually her panties only to clean her up and change her into new sets of all kinds of clothing to keep her warm

By now Derek didn't stare anymore. He was aware of how sick Meredith looked but she was still his wife. His beautiful and smart wife who he has two children with. The love of his life

"And she's done" He announced "I'll carry her downstairs" He sighed

"Your father made sure the car was completely ready for her" Carolyn smiled softly

"Thanks" Derek whispered and scooped her up, carried her downstairs, slipped on her coat and shoes and carried her to the car, all while she was barely conscious

"Wanna talk" He heard her whispering

"Go on" He frowned as he leaned partially on her seat

"If it hasn't shrunk- I just don't wanna try anymore" Meredith whispered

"Mer- no you can't do that!" Derek gasped

"Derek- I'm tired. I won't beat the odds" She whispered

"You will. You need to stay positive, for me, for our girls!" He begged

"I'm staying positive but I can't believe in miracles. If the scans have shown the tumor has grown or is taking over another part of my body.. than this has to end, please" Meredith whispered

"But if it has shrunk, then you'll keep fighting right?" Derek was tearing up

"Yes. I just- If it's shrinking then it was all with a purpose but right now my stomach isn't even working, Der.." She sighed

"I know" He whispered "But-" Derek started but never finished

"Der?" Meredith looked in his eyes

It once again became clear how exhausted she was, how tired and pale she was. Her skin looked like porcelain, her clothes were hanging around her body, her hands trembling as she held his hand in hers, she couldn't even properly squeeze his hand of how weak she was

"I just- I can't imagine continuing if you ever pass away. The girls, I-" Derek started sobbing

"Hold me" Meredith begged

Derek wrapped his arms around her fragile body and hugged her close as he sobbed. The second he heard the others coming closer he stopped crying and climbed into the driver's seat

She weakly reached out for his hand over the console

"I love you, and I always will" Meredith told him

"I love you too" Derek whispered and grabbed her hand as the doors opened and Mark and Addison helped the girls to climb in the car

"Daddy, can we listen to the radio?" Ava asked with a smile

"Of course honey" He nodded. As he looked at Meredith he saw her body was already drooping and she was ready to fall asleep

Derek drove to the hospital, followed by his parents, Mark and Addison. They helped her out of the car and into the wheelchair. Emma climbed onto Meredith's lap and wrapped her arms around her mother as Ava grabbed her hand

"Hi Meredith. Hi guys" Miranda said as she saw them walking towards her

"Mommy's asleep" Emma told Bailey

"Oh, okay" Bailey nodded sadly "Let's get your mommy to a room so we can get started"

...

"Mer, I'll be right back. Just close your eyes" Derek kissed her lips as he lifted her into the scanner

"Maybe- Maybe it will have shrunk" Meredith softly smiled

"I love you" Derek smiled and kissed her one more time

He made his way out of the room and decided to see with the others if her tumor had grown or not

He couldn't take his eyes off of her chest as he watched it rise with each breath she took

"Got them!" Bailey announces as the scans appeared on the screen

"Oh my-" Derek gasped "Bailey?"

"Oh-" All the others gasped

"Can- Can someone please say it out loud? I don't trust myself" Derek backed up until his back hit the wall. His hands were in his hair as he didn't dare too look into anyone's eyes

"It- It schrunk" Bailey spoke up

"It shrunk" Derek repeated "Mer! It shrunk!!" He yelled through the intercom

"Really?" Meredith gasped

Derek ran out of the control room to the table Meredith was laying on. He scooped her into his arms and cuddled her close to his body "You did it" He smiled

"Oh my-" Meredith gasped "It's looking better?"

"Mer, we might stop with IL-2 and continue with regular chemo" Derek smiled

"Finally" Meredith breathed as she hugged him back as tight as possible despite the exhaustion

"Finally" Derek repeated

"We have to tell mom, dad, the girls- Oh my" Meredith couldn't believe this was really happening

Derek scooped her up in his arms and kissed her deeply

"Let's go tell the others" Derek smiled

"They'll be happy" Meredith smiled, fighting to stay awake

Derek and Meredith went back to the hospital room Meredith was staying in. As they walked in they saw them smiling

"And?" Christopher stood up followed by the others

"It shrunk" Meredith smiled

"Really?" Carolyn gasped

"Mommy, what does that mean?" Ava asked

"The meds are working. Mommy's slowly getting better" Mark lifted the two girls in his arms and spinned them around

"Really?" Emma gasped

"Yes honey" Meredith smiled as Derek placed her back in the bed, her girls crawling in her arms while her family joined her for a hug
