"You're okay" Derek's hand brushed through Meredith's hair in order to keep her calm

"C-Can-t-" She kept trying to talk

"I know. Mark is on his way. You just need to calm down Mer" Derek softly said, knowing it was a long ride from their house to the hospital

"Hmm" Meredith nodded and closed her eyes a bit

"Okay but stay awake, honey. Stay with me" Derek didn't let go of her hand

"It's okay Meredith, dear" Carolyn said as she joined them

"G-Girls" She forced out

"Here they are" Addison walked in with a huge smile but that immediately changed into a huge frown as she saw Meredith laying down with Derek and Carolyn next to her

"Mommy!" The two girls ran towards Meredith

"Be careful, Mer" Derek said sternly "Okay be careful with mommy" He softly told his daughters

Meredith seemed to relax a lot more with her girls cuddled into her arms

Carolyn had returned back to the kitchen to make sure nothing would burn

Christopher had been waiting on the porch for Mark to arrive, luckily it didn't take too long as Mark had broken the speed limits to get here

"Okay, I got the oxygen" Mark and Christopher hurried inside

Derek sighed in relief. He didn't like seeing Meredith fighting for oxygen as if every single breath was a chore. A chore she was barely able to continue

Mark sat the tank on the ground as Christopher attached the mask to it before Derek slipped it on her face. If her condition wasn't this bad it would have been funny to see the 3 men working together

"Is this helping?" Derek asked slowly as she nodded, her eyes drooping slightly "Sleep" He kissed her forehead and she gave in

They kept watching her for a bit until Mark returned downstairs first

"You don't have to stay, I just want to make sure-" Derek started but his dad interrupted him

"To make sure she keeps breathing. I get it, son. I get it" Christopher breathed "She won't give up. Not yet" 

Derek shrugged his shoulders. His dad was very sure that Meredith would be able to beat this 

...

A few hours later they were sitting down on the couch. Meredith was laying down in Derek's arms, still hooked up for extra oxygen as she had just finished her tube feeding, their girls sitting next to them. Carolyn and Christopher offered to stay, just to help out a bit and Derek and Meredith agreed. Of course they loved having their parents with them and the extra help was wonderful even if Meredith hated to admit that

"Mark and I have to go now. We have an early shift" Addison said softly

"Hmm okay" Meredith groaned as she weakly pushed herself into sitting position. She held tightly onto the blanket in a try to stay warm but she failed

Addison wrapped her arms around Meredith's very thin figure and gave her a tight hug

"Love you, Mer" Addison said "See you tomorrow in the hospital"

"Love you too. See you" Meredith wanted to hug her friend back but she could barely even lift her arms enough to Reach Addison's waist

"Bye Mer. Love you" Mark wrapped his strong arms around Meredith and stayed like that for a couple of seconds

"Bye mom, bye dad. Bye Derek" They said and hugged everyone

"Be careful" Carolyn reminded them "Call if you need anything"

"We'll text you when we're home" Addison said and smiled a final time as they left the house

"Okay girls, bedtime" Derek said once Mark and Addison had left the house

"Can we stay up a bit longer, please?" They begged

"No, it's already past bedtime" Derek shook his head

"But daddy-"

"Let's sleep in the big bed, if that's okay with mommy" Derek said

"Yes! Can we mommy?" Eva asked

"Of course" Meredith nodded and pulled off the nasal cannula

"You're keeping that on" Derek said sternly, he wasn't joking around about this

"I'll help you out with the girls" Carolyn offered

"Thanks mom" Derek nodded and scooped up Meredith in his arms

"Aww" She groaned

"I'm sorry" Derek apologized as tears pooled in his eyes and carried her upstairs where he gently placed her down on the bed, his dad following close behind with the oxygen tank

Derek quickly adjusted the nasal cannula and kissed the tip of her nose which made her chuckle

"I'll cover you with some blankets first" Derek started tucking her "Come on girls, you can come lay down" Derek smiled softly and helped Emma lay down first who buried herself in her mother's arms, Ava next to them

"Night Mer. Night girls" Christopher softly kissed all three girls' heads, followed by Carolyn kissing their head

"Night Poppa, night Nana!" They both giggled

"Night dad. Night mom" Meredith weakly opened her eyes and forced a smile

"We're in the guest room if you need us. We'll both have our phones with us" They said goodnight to Derek before walking out

"Hey honey, you'll be fine" Derek kissed Meredith's head and tucked her in with the last blanket and she finally stopped shivering

"So tired" Meredith mumbled

"I know. It's the IL-2" Derek softly kissed her forehead

"When do I have radiation?" Meredith asked weakly

"In the afternoon. You can sleep in" Derek kissed her again

"I like that" She breathed "Feels normal" Her fingers going through Emma's blonde curls as Eva was already starting to snore

"Night mommy. Night daddy" Emma breathed

"Night baby" Derek kissed her head

"Night sweetie" Meredith said and let out a couple of wheezy breaths

"Shh, deep breaths. You'll feel a lot better in the morning" Derek's finger stroking her cheek, being grateful her nausea hasn't been too bad so far but he did want CT scan of her chest, just to be sure no mets were starting to form there. He made a mental note to call Bailey first thing in the morning

"Love you" She muttered

"I love you too" Derek kissed the top of her head

I'm a bit late, I had two exams today and then awful migraines by the time I arrived home but here I am! Hope you enjoyed this chapter :)
