Thankfully for me, my migraine did not make a reappearance, letting my next few days of classes go by relatively smoothly. Unfortunately for Alice, however, her migraines had quickly returned and had taken hold of her for the last three days.

"I'm just going to go see her. Best not to wait for me before the meeting tonight in case I decide to stay with her until she falls asleep," Sam said as we descended the stairs of the fifth floor following another boring Defense Against the Dark Arts class. Umbridge had barely looked at me once the entire time, a possible side effect from ruining her rug, no doubt. But I was pretty pleased with the limited attention for a change.

"Well, let me know if you'd like me to bring you anything. Food from the kitchens or what not."

"I should be okay. I'll see you at the meeting." And with that she left on the first floor while I continued down the stairs to the dungeons.

Jacqueline had been kind enough to send another copy of Le Monde and with it came notes from my old friends between the margins of stories.

You must read this article when you get a chance. 10/10 recommend. Tells you all you need to know about how to Transfigure plants into metal. – Giselle

Ignore that spill there. Ana was a little too generous with her berry jam on toast this morning. It stained my uniform sleave and it still hasn't gotten scrubbed out- Marie

Hey Ava! I hope you're okay. I miss being able to speak English here with you. But my French is getting better! Will you be home at all this summer? I think mom is letting me come home for a bit before this summer's trip. I'm going to Prague this year! -Rosalie

I shook my head with a charming grin after reading the notes. Rosalie always went somewhere new each summer. While she complains about it, I know deep down her mother forces her on these outings to get her daughter away from the nasty girls in Newport Society.

But unlike my family, Rosalie's mom always brought her daughter to new and fun places and actually spent time with her. Their relationship was something special in my eyes.

"Reading that rubbish again, are you?" I looked up with my same smile at the sound of Draco's voice. We were in the library with Draco trying to study for his incoming O.W.Ls. While I said I would study too, I couldn't help but open my newest copy of the paper.

"It's not rubbish, see look—it has notes from my friends," I explained, pointing to some of the messages in the margins. Draco squinted at the writing as he leaned over my shoulder to read before shaking his head stubbornly.

"I can't understand a word of that, you know."

"Well, I mean it is in French," I pointed out with a laugh as he hid his face in my shoulder with a displaced sigh at his miscalculation.
