19 YEARS LATER

"Come on quickly, now, we don't want to miss the train!" Ginny rushed, her hand on Lily's back as they hurried through Platform 9 & 3/4.

"I want to go! Why can't I go?" The little redhead complained.

Harry laughed as he pushed his son's cart. "You'll go in just a few years, kiddo. Once you're old enough."

"But I want to go now!" Lily pouted.

Ginny smiled at Harry, who grinned back in amusement. She had retired from her position as Captain of the Holyhead Harpies just a few years ago and was now a Quidditch journalist for the Daily Prophet. Harry was now head of the DMLE and Ron was also an auror though later on retired working as a co-manager with his brothers Fred and George at Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes in Diagon Alley. From what Harry knows, Ron had helped strike several deals with foreign wizards opening up Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes in different countries.

"Hey, it's Teddy!" James said suddenly, pointing at the older boy. Teddy Lupin was chatting with his best friend Perseus Black. Teddy was tall and lanky just like Remus had been, but his blue hair was his mother's metamorphagus powers. Perseus had preferred to keep his hair a dark shade of violet.

Harry rolled his eyes. "You see them every week, yet act like it's been years. I swear, next, you'll be wanting Teddy to live with us."

James's eyes widened in excitement. "Can he?"

"Can Percy also come?" Albus asked.

Harry laughed. His children are obsessed with Teddy and Percy, looking up to the two teenagers as cool big siblings. "Teddy likes living with Percy at Grimmauld Place. We can't just take them." The Lupins came over for dinner at least once a week and Harry was determined to be a present godfather in a way Sirius could have been if his parents were alive.

James hugged his parents before running off with his cart to go find his friends. He was as bold as a Gryffindor could get, always excited to loudly hang out with his friends.

Harry noticed Albus hesitate. He exchanged a look with Ginny, who ushered their daughter forward to give them privacy.

"Hey," Harry said to his son, dropping down to tie his shoes like Albus. His middle child was starting Hogwarts this year, and Harry understood his nerves. "What's going on?"

Albus bit his lip. "What if I don't get in Gryffindor?"

"Albus Severus," Harry said quietly so that nobody but Ginny could hear, and she was tactful enough to pretend to be chatting with Lily, "you were named for two headmasters of Hogwarts. One of them was a Slytherin and he was probably the bravest man I ever knew."

"But just say--"

"--then Slytherin House will have gained an excellent student, won't it? It doesn't matter to us, Al. But if it matters to you, you'll be able to choose Gryffindor over Slytherin. Do you remember what uncle Rigel said to Percy before his sorting?"

Albus shook his head. Harry cracked a smile because Percy was sorted into Slytherin and he remembered Rigel's tiny speech. Minus the swear words.

"It doesn't matter whether you're a Gryffindor a Hufflepuff a Ravenclaw or a Slytherin. What matters is the path you choose to take. those colors on your ties don't die but rather your actions. Heck, the Sorting Hat takes your choice into account."
