Killer. By M.E.

“Put that weapon down,”
you say, “you don’t know what you’re doing.”
But I do.
I know exactly how dangerous it is.

You’re the one who underestimates me,
I’m not the person I pretend to be.
I played the role of an innocent child,
and you really thought I knew nothing.
I know you’re the reason
I’m slowly dying,
I know you’re the cause of
my loved ones’ deaths.
And that
is more than enough for me.

There’s nothing left I’d live for,
but there’s so much I’d die for.
Here, your life is at stake,
And your life I will take.
There’s nothing more dangerous than someone
who cares not for their own life.

So since you thought
you meant more to me than my family did,
I’ll prove you wrong.
Since you decided I was young and stupid
and didn’t know better than to follow you,
I’ll show you just what it means to be
my parents’ child.

I smile and raise the orb,
inside, swirling, so dark, so beautiful,
it shatters in my hand.
You scream,
and it’s like music to my ears,
blood trickles from the broken glass in my flesh.
I take a step towards you,
and you back away in fear
of the darkness in my eyes, the power in my hand,
it’s time for you to suffer,
to feel the pain and anger I did.

You said, “Don’t you worry,
I’ll take good care of you.”
But what you did, all you did,
was turn me into a monster,
just like you.

But I don’t blame you,
you did only what you could,
so you can just blame me,
when your corpse is discovered.
Remember, remember,
as you bleed out on the cold stone floor,
that I, the child you laughed at,
am the one who killed you.
