Fear of the Dark. By M.E.

I used to be afraid of the dark,
for I did not know what lay beyond.
I'd jump from shadows
and hide in the light.
And then I learned

that I was the demon.

I am the one who haunts the shadows,
I am the one who terrorizes everyone,
I am the monster, I am the demon,
there's no need to be scared

when you're the scariest one in town.

The shadows will hide from me,
the monsters will cower in my gaze,
for they can sense that the lunacy in my eyes
is an eternity deeper than theirs could ever be.

There's no need to be scared of the dark,
when you're the one they're scared of.
