"Cali..." Clover sighed looking over at me while helping Domo eat his food.
"What?"
"Mommy did not raise us like that."
I looked over at her with my face scrunched up. "Like what?"
"To let a nigga dog us and just accept it."
Here we go. I thought to myself. Clover was always preaching about never letting a nigga treat you a certain way, and to always walk away from a man at the first sign he shows you he's not shit. I had a hard time taking this advice because for one, I saw red flags as green, and for two, I was way too forgiving in general. But I honestly feel like Clover never really had to experience going through the motions with a man. Her and Baby have been together since they were teenagers, and although he has his moments, he was the perfect man in most regards, even though he wasn't always in the beginning.
"It's not as easy as you're making it sound though Clove" Tae chimed in while wrapping an elastic band around the edges of the wig he was installing on me.
"Exactly." I said agreeing. "Baby is the exception, not the rule."
"So don't settle for the rule, find yourself the exception." Clover countered.
I just huffed and pulled out my phone to post my Instagram promo. She just didn't understand. I was really falling for Demetrius, I wasn't going to drop him at the first sign of problems. Plus, I was confident his apology was sincere and he would try to change for me.
