August 22

"Happy Birthday baby" Demetrius said walking in the bedroom with a breakfast tray full of food.

"Awwwww babyyyy" I cheesed reaching for the food tray, placing it carefully on my lap careful not to spill the mimosa that was on it. "Thank you" I told him puckering my lips out for a kiss.

"Ain't shit" Demetrius replied leaning down to peck my lips then forehead.

"Who made this? I know not you" I questioned him looking over all the food that had my mouth watering.

Demetrius chuckled. "My moms cooked it" He told me pulling out his money counter and a full duffel from his walk in closet.

"She's here? She didn't mention she was coming! Tell her to come up here" I said getting excited at the mention of Lauryn being here. Ever since I met her, we instantly clicked and had been keeping in touch with texts and FaceTimes here and there. I enjoyed talking to her about whatever really, but what I really loved was the details about Demetrius. Demetrius hardly ever talked about his childhood, even when I would pry him. Lauryn loved talking about her son, and I loved hearing about him, a win win.

"Yeah she got here early dis mornin'" Demetrius told me "She not here doe, she went to help get shit ready for ya party and shit"

I grinned after plopping a strawberry in mouth. "I can't wait for tonight, who all did you invite? Is there going to be food?" I asked him grabbing another strawberry.

"Yeah fatty its gone be some food" Demetrius said putting a stack into his money counter. I just watched as the bills shuffled through the counter quickly.

"Do you ever think of quitting?" I asked him curiously.

"Quitting what?" Demetrius asked, glancing up for a second before going back to counting.

"BMF"

Demetrius stopped counting and looked at me before smirking, "This BMF shit don't stop baby"

"I'm serious, Demetrius" I said moving the tray from my lap to beside me.

"I'm deadass shorty" He said tying a rubber band around a stack and placing it on the coffee table in front of him.

"I know the game all too well and I know how it ends. Dead or in jail" I said sadly. I had experienced so many personal losses to the drug game and it honestly made me resent it. I was so tired of losing people around me, permanently and temporarily, to the game. I knew I was in it for the long haul with Demetrius, and I literally don't think I could handle losing him too.
