*Scott's POV*

BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP

"Stoppppp."

BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP

I snap awake and turn off my alarm.

7:30.

Crap, I'm gonna be late.

I get up and throw on a sweater and some jeans.

I slick my hair back with my hand and put a beanie on.

I put on some shoes and rush downstairs to the kitchen.

I grab a water and a banana (bananas are my favorite 😉) and go out to my car.

Once I get on the road, it's 7:40.

I get to school at 7:50 and run to my first class.

Thank god it's downstairs.

I slide into my seat just as the bell rings.

My math teacher walks in and starts writing on the board.

Everyone starts talking to their friends and I just sit there and doodle in my notebook.

I have very few friends, and none of them are in this class.

It's a very small class of about 15 people, because I'm in advanced math by some miracle.

"Guys!" My teacher says in her loud voice.

"Please do the warm up on the board and get out your homework from last night."

I did manage to get my homework done, even though I was talking to Mitch nonstop.

I start looking for my homework when the door opens.

Mitch?

I hear him quietly ask the teacher if he can take a test in here or something.

She nods and he takes a seat next to me.

"Do you really have to take a test?" I whisper to him as he sits down.

"Yeah. I was out of science last week. No, I didn't come just to see you."

I pout. "Aw, I thought I was special."

"You are. Now pay attention."

I turn back around and start writing again.

The class goes by slowly and finally the bell rings.

I walk upstairs to science, then back down to theatre.

I start thinking about how Mitch is in chorus and he seems to love it.

Should I join?

Maybe.

I see that there's a sub today when I get to theatre.

Forget that I'm going to get a milkshake.

I write a fake note from my mom and turn it in at the office so I can leave.

This is literally the first time I've left school for no reason but it's getting close to exams so it's basically review.

Is it skipping?

Nah, it's not skipping.

It's just... leaving and not telling my mom.

Or my dad.

You don't wanna know what would happen if my dad found out.

I hand the office lady the note and she lets me go.

I get in my car and decide to go to the mall.

Mitch texts me when I get there.

Mitch ;): Uh, Scott? Where are you? Are you sick?

Scott: At the mall. Come join me.

Mitch: Are you crazy? Do you know how much trouble you're gonna get in?

Scott: As long as my dad doesn't find out it's okay. Come join me. I'm lonely. :(

Mitch: I can't leave, I don't have a note.

I smile at the fact that he considered leaving.

Scott: Write one.

Mitch: Fine. Just because I love you.

He doesn't text back after that so I assume that he's leaving.

I get to the mall, which is relatively close to the school.

I wait around in the food court for about 20 minutes and see Mitch coming towards me.

"Hey b." I say and Mitch rolls his eyes.

"I'm killing you if we get in trouble."

"Burn the bones so I don't come back and haunt you."

He stares at me.

"Supernatural." I say and pick up my phone.

"Okay..."

There's a moment of silence and then Mitch speaks up.

"Doesn't your dad work here?"

"He's off, but yeah, why?" I say and Mitch looks to the left.

"No he's not."

My head snaps up.

"Run."

We get up and take off towards the nearest bathrooms.

I'm panting when we get inside. "We have to leave."

"Why are you so scared? You'll just get grounded for a month."

"Worse."

"Two months?"

I shake my head and point to my belt.

Mitch's eyes widen. "Still?"

"We're from Texas, Mitch."

Someone enters the bathroom.

I gulp.

"Boys?" My dad walks around the corner.

"Scott Richard Hoying, what are you doing here?"

"S-skipping."

"And who's this?" My dad asks, pointing to Mitch.

"Mitch Grassi, sir." Mitch says.

"You skipped school and dragged someone with you?"

"Yes sir." I say quietly.

"Let's go. I'm taking you home right now."

I slump my shoulders and follow him out to the cop car.

The ride to Mitch's house is silent. I tell him goodbye and to call me later.

My dad holds out his hand. "Phone."

I put my phone in his hand.

"You're grounded for two weeks."

I look down.

Two weeks means there's added punishment.

"Yes sir."

We get home and he sends me to my room.

Let's just say the night was not very good.

**

When I get to school the next day Mitch is waiting outside.

"How'd it go?" He asks.

"Painful." I say and he laughs.

"Haha. I just got my phone taken away. And I'm grounded."

"Whatever. We're gonna be late. Bye babe." I say and kiss his cheek.

"Love you."

Sometimes detention can be fun.
