The Russian kept looking down at the desk. Ted sits at the other side. Chloe stands behind him, unsure what she can do for a man who saw ghosts of his past.
Ted sweats a little. He prays to god in his head that Reyes's agents don't come barging in his office. The last thing he wanted is body bags being carried out.
"Apollo," Ted whispers. "I suggest you talk about the reason why you left Spetsnaz."
"Wait," Manhattan holsters his pistol and steps away from the door. "Didn't you tell me you were transferred through an international exchange program?"
Dimitri whispers to Ted Kent, making the Russian scoff and snap his head. "You're allowing me to tell them about Boryspil?"
Ted nods. The Russian turns around and finally opens himself up. It takes a moment for him to finally break his silence. Aaron remains frozen in his chair, confused. The Russian couldn't tell what the young operator's head was going through now. One thing is for sure that is stories in Spetznaz wouldn't have added up if he really thought about it.
"Vlado Bogdan was a leader I once respected. He and Group Alpha was Russia's hidden ace in the hole so she can stand on her own. I was proud to be selected into the team years after the crisis ended." He begin to look down, only for a brief moment. "I left him and my team because he massacred a village without blinking in Boryspil."
-Ten Years ago-
Boryspil, a once forgotten village in Ukraine became not only a haven for omnics, but they have made progress to co-exist with humans to live alongside them. Until that day, it was a great testament that peace between humans and omnics can be achieved in any place in the world.
That day came when a group of seven heavily armed Spetsnaz operators visited the village on a search for a terrorist who was last seen in Boryspil. Eventually, a man in a metallic helmet breathes heavily through his respirator as he leads his men up in the hill.
"What a waste of time." Accipiter spits in Russian. "Solomon was definitely there and those omnics and the traitors are hiding him."
"Maybe the intel was off." Ursus replies gently, but a bit firm. "Look, we could have done something different. Those people were scared of us."
"They should be." Vlado says. "They're guilty as sin for aiding Solomon. He butchered many of our people in St Petersburg."
"Sir, with all due respect, but we need to let this go." Says the second operator. "There's no way Solomon did it. He's been dead for years. The Brits blew him up in an airstrike. His followers are devoted to his cause."
"No!" Vlado turned around and grabbed the second operator by the collar. He pulls out a document from his tablet and taps it with his finger. "See this, Ursus? This is evidence that he was here. No one can suddenly vanish like a fart in the wind. He's hiding somewhere in there and these villagers are against us."
"Well, sir, there's nothing we can do."
"You're right. Group Alpha can't do anything, but the loyal soldiers of Ukraine can." Vlado pulls out a radio from his pocket. "Alexi, is the CX Gas ready?"
"CX-Rot gas?" Ursus gasps. "Is he insane? That melts omnics and irritates humans. What the hell is going on with you Vlado?"
"Good. You ma-"
Vlado hears a rifle click from behind. He didn't need to turn around to tell Ursus is aiming his rifle a couple inches away from his head. "Ursus, what the hell are you doing?"
"Don't you dare to give the order." Ursus took one deep breath. "What about the innocent civilians down there?"
Vlado slowly turns around. His subordinate could shoot him if he makes one wrong move. He takes a breath and speaks in a calm, collective, and gentle manner. Maybe he didn't have to punish his soldier for treason.
