Royal Knights Selection Exam: Part 1

(Y/n) was back at the temple to talk to Kendov. He was practicing with his sword, swinging it elegantly.

(Y/n): {Careful. I need you in one piece, not in pieces.}

Kendov: {Ah, (y/n). How was the festival?}

(Y/n): {Ok, I guess.}

Kendov: {Our people used to throw festivals easily twice the the size of that one.}

(Y/n): {I bet. Anyway, I have something to talk to you about.}

Kendov: {Sure, what is it?}

(Y/n): {The Wizard King is holding a Royal Knight Exam.}

Kendov: {Hmm.}

(Y/n): {I don't care much about it. But I can see the benefits of joining it. This squad would lead the forefront in facing the Elves.}

Kendov: {This is the perfect chance to set things in motion.}

(Y/n): {What is this plan anyway?}

Kendov: {The plan is actually yours. All those years ago. The basis of what the Elves are trying to do, but in a much grander scale.}

(Y/n): {You're going to have to give me a refresher. This plan of mine is not one I remember.}

Kendov: {I'll give you more than just a reminder of the plan. Back then (y/n), you were more of a scholar than warrior.

Kendov chuckles.

Kendov: {You studied magic, for hours on end. In your studies, you developed the magic stones.}

(Y/n): {I-I created them...?}

Kendov: {That's right. The Elves found out how to bring their people back with the use of their stones. But their plan will fail, because they don't know how to use them properly.}

(Y/n): {Why is that?}

Kendov: {Because we're going to get our hands on the one thing that makes the resurrection truly work. We'll... You're going to get your hands on it. The Elder Scroll.}

(Y/n): {The Elder Scroll? What's that?}

Kendov: {Knowledge. Ancient and powerful knowledge. It's been safe guarded by our people for generations. One of the main reasons we were at war with the Devils, before we went to war against the humans. A history lesson for another day. Anyway, combining the power of the Elder Scroll and the magic stones, we can bring our people back... As if they never left.}

(Y/n): {How is it different from the goal of the Elves?}

Kendov: {Because the souls of the Elves are trapped in the bodies of these savages. Our people will rise from the ground. Flesh will mend back to the bone. They will rise as if awoken from a dream.}

(Y/n): {So we need all the magic stones. Should we allow the Elves to continue their plan then?}

Kendov: {Yes. Let them collect the stones for us. Their plan will ultimately fail in the end. If you want to stop it, stop it. You can pretend for a while longer. If you want to let them accomplish their goal, let them. Won't make a difference. All depends if you want to keep pretending you're a human.}

(Y/n): {This spell... How do you know it will actually work?}

Kendov: {It could be unpredictable. It is the same spell I used on you to send you here. We were in a middle of a battle and you were dying, if not dead already, so the spell wasn't perfect. You were supposed to return almost immediately in the same body you were at the time the spell took place. Instead, you were awakened forward in time and your life was reset.}
