— (Y/N) 3rd POV —

Ozin sat in his bedroom, a frown visible on his face as he used what he knew of kronomancy to repair his cane.

Actually, no. Not the cane.

 The handle.

That was the part he cared the most about.

"Hi, Oz." (y/n) said unceremoniously as he teleported while sitting on a chair, facing Ozpin.

The headmaster jumped in place. "(y/n)?" He questioned and looked at the boy as if to make sure that the boy was real and not an illusion. After two or three-second of gazing at the black-haired teen, Ozpin shot into a standing position and approached our young crusader with haste. "Are you alright? Is everything okay? Who was that man that kidnapped you?!" The headmaster fired question after question.

"I'm fine. Things could be better, but I dug a hole and fell into it, now I need to find a way to crawl out of it. And the asshole who took me away gave me a needed wake-up call, but I still hate him." He paused. "Alright, maybe not hate. Dislike. Yeah that's the word." (Y/n) stood up and brushed away Ozpin's hands that we're grasping him on his shoulders. "He is a warrior, and has the mentality of one…want to know what's the reason he roughed up the staff that tried to help me?"

"I think you would tell me no matter my answer."

"He shattered Oobleck legs, beat up Port, and blast Glynda away because "TheRE iS StAFf aT BEAcOn wHo CaN GEt To thEM IN tImE"! Going by that Logic I can go and beat professor-X for being a mind-washing cunt and Brutalize the X-man from trying to protect the headmaster, their leader from an intruder! Why? Because they have high tech that will help them heal and because the school nurse is in the building!" Ozpin had no idea who Professor-X is, but he quietly listed to the young crusader as he vent out.

"Also, how about team RWBY? Let's cripple a hot-head teenage girl for being a hot-head teenage girl! Let's send a naive girl who wants to be a hero into the Grimm lands because she is a naive girl who wants to be a hero!" (Y/n) screamed and threw his hands into the air. "He punished them for something that DIDNT HAPPENED YET! …except the casualties that surely happened when they chased after the white fang but end up fighting Torchwick in a giant mech." He pinched the bridge of his nose. "That one was my fault. I could point out how stupid their plan is, I could prevent it. They got too excited, they had tunnel vision, didn't think about anything that COULD and WOULD go wrong…but it's normal they are inexperienced." He closed his eyes, guilt eating him from the inside.

He was responsible for those deaths and wounded people as much as team RWBY himself.

After all, Torchwick used the giant robot to sprint through the street and launched every car in the way to the side. There were casualties for sure…

And he could prevent it. He knew something like will happen due to his knowledge of the show, but he looked the other way.

He should ask Manus to punch him again when he gets back. The first beating doesn't feel like it was enough of punishment now that (y/n) realized how much he fucked up.

Enslaving Cinder, and thinking that he does this for some form of twisted justice.

Forgetting about Asia after he left her in an alien to her world.

Ignoring the duty given to him. To spread the word of God in a fantasy world…well at least he asked Steve and Jeff to build a church there. That's a start.

And now this? Innocent deaths that he could help prevent?

He groaned, grabbed his head. A silent curse left his lips. Tears started to gather in his eyes.

A comforting hand was placed on his shoulder. (Y/n) turned around to see the serious and…sad expression of Ozpin.

"I do not know how you know about team RWBY escapades, and I don't know how you were supposed to know, that they would go on such an…adventure" the old…old…very old man began and looked (y/n) straight in the eye. "But you knew and did nothing about it. It's good that you show such remorse now that you understand what your ignorance resulted in." Ozpin stretched his hand and the repaired handle of his cane shot into his hand.

Just like Mjolnir always answers Thor's call.

"But there is nothing that you can do at this point." Ozpin passed the handle to (y/n) who took it but was confused at the headmaster’s action. "Never forget this failure." He pointed at something on the handle…a name.

The decorative pattern on the handle was made with names. Tiny, small names that formed the pattern on Ozpin cane.

"Never forget any failures, no matter how small, big, or overwhelming they be." There was…something in his voice as he spoke. "Carry them on your shoulder, it's your responsibility." It was regret. Ozpin’s voice had regret in it.

"Summer Rose." (Y/n) read out the name he was seeking. It confirmed his suspicion. This was a list…a story of every life that Ozpin failed. Every life he lost.

Every regret and failure he had committed.

A sigh escaped Ozpin as he heard the name. "Summer…one of my biggest failures…the situation was dire, people were about to die in the hundreds." The headmaster’s gaze was directed at (y/n) but his eyes were distant. Ozpin looked past (y/n), into the memory of that faithful day. "She was the near the settlement, she had mastered her silver eyes…I thought she would be okay until reinforcements came, so I sent her." His eyes expression changed, he saw something in the memory he was watching. "But when we came…there was a horde of Grimm and the last remnants of the settlement survivors who were holding their last defense."

Ozpin sat back on his chair. His gaze locked on the floor.

There was a momentary silence in the room.

"We repealed the Grimm. I found and took Summer while other Huntsman helped people get into the bullhead. Tai was devastated, and I didn't have the courage to look at him, needless to say, approach him."

"Jesus." The young crusader whispered quietly.

"At the end of the day…I sent a girl to her death, and while her sacrifice bought enough time to save the few people in that settlement…I can't help but wonder…was it worth it?" Ozpin looked up. As if asking (y/n) for his opinion. "If I would not have given her the green light…would she still be alive? And how many more lives could she save if she was?"

"I…" indeed. How many more lives would Summer Rose be able to save if she was still alive? More than those who were in the settlement that she tried to protect with the cost of her life? "I don't know…" (y/n) didn't have an answer.

Ozpin sighed. He stood up and walked away into another room before returning with a bottle of whiskey a moment later. He carried two glasses with him.

And so, two sad people spent the night sulking and asking themselves "Could I have done better?"

Yes, they could. But they made a mistake and nothing will change that. They can only walk forward and try to fix things however they can.
