The ADA office had a peaceful atmosphere, Kunikida silently working, Atsushi reading a book, Yosano doing whatever, and Tanizuki and Naomi.... doing whatever they do.
Dazai was sitting in his chair reading his famous suicide book when he saw out of the corner of his eye, you and Ranpo. Sitting and talking together while eating a LOT of candy. You laughing at some of his comments, and him just talking to you with a small smile on his face.
Now that Dazai had looked back on it, you and him haven't spend much time together in a while. Not at work or home. When you were at work, you were always talking with Ranpo. And when work was done, you just went your separate ways.
So that's why when you went on a mission with Ranpo to solve a crime, he seized the opportunity to make you take your attention away from Ranpo and onto him. He sauntered over to Ranpo's desk and swiftly took his candy stash without being questioned by anyone, as they were to absorbed into what they were doing to notice.He hid it in his own desk and went back to re-reading his suicide book like nothing happened.
As you and Ranpo entered the office and he glances at Dazai, his eyebrows raised for a mere second. You and him sat down next to each other. Ranpo reached for his candy stash while you were conversing with him. He furrowed his eyebrows and looked throughout different drawers in his desk. You saw the confused look on his face and cut yourself off from what you were saying.
"Ranpo? Is everything okay?"
"I can't seem to find my candy stash" He replied with a small frown and his eyes scrunched
"Oh. Well, that's unfortunate. I'll buy you some new candy tomorrow. Is that fine?" While pouting because all of his candy was gone, he nodded and you went back to your desk. And while not being noticed by you, Dazai had a small, sly smile on his face.
You sat down in front of your desk which was (coincidentally) right next to your boyfriend's. You sat in front of your desk thinking what to do, as you never have very much work that needs to be completed. On the other hand, Dazai rolled his chair delightful towards you.
"What happened? Why are you over here and not talking to Ranpo?" Dazai asked in a tone you have never heard from him before. He sounded happy, but it seemed as there was another layer of emotions under his happy tone.
"Ranpo lost his candy stash. We usually talk and eat candy, but since we lost our stash of sweets, he is in a bad mood."
"Oh. Well, now that means we can spend some time with each other!" Dazai replied with an innocent grin on his face. You, a bit oblivious to his antiques, nodded. His smile grew wider. "Great! Let's go then!" He said as he stood up and grabbed your hand and pulled you out of the building. Kunikida (obviously) object to this and yelled at Dazai, which Dazai (also obviously) ignored.
He took you nowhere in particular. Most of the time you spent was just walking around, talking with each other. You must admit, the feeling of spending time with Dazai was definitely something that you missed.
You hand was clasped in his while he was giddily skipping around with a wide grin.
"You look so happy today, Dazai."
"Because I get to spend time with you!"
"But when we usually hang out, you never seem this happy"
Dazai put his finger in his chin, as if in deep thought. And he shrugged. "Well, you have been spending a lot more time with Ranpo than me. So we never get to do very much."
That's when you caught on to his antiques. With a sly smile and tausend eyebrows, you asked "Dazai, are you jealous of Ranpo, perhaps?"
That's when Dazai's aura completely changed. It felt more... intimidating. Dazai took a step towards you and you took a step back. Another step forward, another step back. You soon hit a wall and looked around for people, on to realise that you and Dazai were completely alone. You looked up at him only to see him with a sinister smile on his face.
"So what if I was?" He asked. Your mind went blank. His face got closer to yours as he held your chin, forcing you to look up at him. "He was stealing my time away from you." He said, and kissed you. Your eyes widened then sooner closed while deepening the kiss.
It felt full of passion and lust, certain emotions he has never revealed to you before. He put one arm around your waist and the other on the back of your head, bringing you closer to him. His lips felt soft and tasted like... sweets?
The kiss was broken and you two stared at each other in pure bliss. "Dazai..." you trailed off. He smiled at you. "I'm guessing you like that, huh?" He kissed you again, his arms still first in their place. He smiled into this kiss, making this one more sweet and teasing.
"Your mine. Ranpo is going to have to try harder to steal you away from me." Dazai said.
BONUS:
As soon as you and Dazai abruptly left the building, Ranpo went over to Dazai's desk and swiftly took the candy that was stolen from him. Of course he knew of Dazai's jealousy, he saw the way Dazai stole glances at you while you were conversing with him, as well as that sly smirk he had on when you went back to your desk. He also knew of the eagerness to put a certain action into motion as you and him left on a mission.
"Aw dang. He ate half of my sweets! What am I supposed to do now? This is only going to last me an hour!" Ranpo complained.
"Quit your yapping already. I'll get you some sweets now if you come with me to buy them." Yosano said while waking towards Ranpo. "Yay!" Ranpo cheered happily as he nearly jumped up and ran to hug Yosano. The girl merely chuckled and hugged him back. She motioned for Ranpo to follow her.
Maybe Ranpo is good for more things than dealing sweets and solving crimes...
