Hi, guys!
So, I'm writing this up to clear up some things within the story as there's been quite a few negative comments on some chapters, which is perfectly fine. You're all entitled to your opinions and I like reading them, especially the more colourful ones.

However, I've noticed that some of the decisions Maddy makes aren't being necessarily understood, and I was hoping to rectify this.

Ranked by the amount of complaints.

1. MADDY AND MAL
Maddy never blamed Mal for leaving to go to Auradon as she knew her mother had basically ordered the four VKs to go, despite their protests. (She overheard her mother complaining about them not wanting to go). However, she was angry that she had been left behind - so she was essentially angry at Ben. When Mal decided to remain in Auradon, Maddy was bitter but she also understood why Mal wouldn't want to return to the Isle. After a while, she stopped caring about the situation at all because she was happy with the life she had on the Isle.

In D2, Mal comes back and Maddy's ecstatic to see her because her only thought in that moment is that she's back. Obviously Mal then makes negative comments about Harry, triggering Maddy's protective side and she storms out.
I want to make it clear that these two are twin sisters and no matter what, there's still love between them. They were the only ones who showed each other love growing up. However, Maleficent still pitted them against each other and forced natural competition between the two so there's still tension between them regardless.

Mal truly loves her sister but struggles to show it in ways that would be considered normal. She uses unorthodox methods that she thinks protects Maddy. For example, Mal doesn't tell Ben about Maddy because the VKs didn't plan to stay in Auradon. When Mal decides she loves Ben and wants to stay with him, she's scared Maddy wants nothing to do with. Therefore, she doesn't mention her so she doesn't have to confront her.
When she realises this isn't the case in D2, Mal starts thinking of ways to make it up to her sister and make them a family again. Hence why she forced Jay to essentially kidnap Maddy. Mal thinks this will give her a chance to show Maddy how truly sorry she is for leaving her but she also thinks she's taking Maddy away from psychotic pirates and a depressing life.

Some of you then commented on the fact that Maddy wasn't angry enough, and you're right. She didn't feel anger. She felt complete and utter defeat. She'd been taken by the woman who had the king of Auradon in love with her. She knew she wasn't going to get them to take her back and no one on the Isle had the ability or the power to get her back. She was broken.

Maddy then tells Mal that she's "right here with her" at Cotillion. This cause a lot of anger, and rightly so. It's stupid. You wouldn't catch me doing that. But Maddy is the type of person that gives chance after chance because she wants people to feel loved; she never did until Harry. But, as someone who comes from a... conflicted household, shall we say. I know it's very difficult to cut off those who've hurt you when they're family. Or even if you loved them at one point and potentially still do. It can be very hard. And I know most people love an OC who kicks ass and tells everyone to go fuck themselves but Maddy isn't that.
When you grow up with little love, you try and take love wherever you can get it. No matter what format it comes in. Mal was her sister, at the end of the day, and she couldn't just ignore that. It hurt her to see Mal in pain.

I'm not saying this excuses Mal's behaviour but Maddy is both more empathetic and more kind than her twin. Since the beginning of the story, it shows that she wants to help those who are sad. Yes, she had just been taken from Harry, but that also gave her a painful understanding of what being separated from your True Love felt like.
