Part 7- The Secrets Between US

LUCAS POV
"Yeah I'm perfect" Riley said as her eyes slowly closed and she fell into my lap.

"Riley?" I move her to my side and she begins softly mumbling words I can't quite make out. She wraps her arms around me, still with her eyes closed. I can't help but feel comforted and safe with her like no one can take this moment away.
Suddenly I felt her grip tighten as her head lifted from my shoulder. She looked up at me and smiled softly.

Riley's POV
Once I came to, I realize I'm now holding onto Lucas again and with my head resting on his shoulder.

"Welcome back." He says with a warm smile.

"Hi..."I say in a calming tone.

Our eyes lock to one another and for the first time in a while I feel protected from the world. I hold on to him longer and slowly, he utters the words
"Riley...there's something-" suddenly the ride starts up again and immediately we separate from one another and I move to my seat.

Something happened but I don't know what exactly. I shake off the feeling and proceed to gather myself. "Lucas, let's just meet up with Farkle and Maya. They'll be here soon." I say far to seriously.

"Y-yeah you're right."

The passengers behind us empty and then, we too get off the ride as I guide the way.

Then I feel his touch on my shoulder. I pause my steps and turn to him. He speaks cautiously saying, "Before we meet them, I have to ask. Why'd you pass out?"

I didn't know the answer for myself but impulsively said "Probably the shock from the ride. You know, it stopped from so high up." Even that felt like a lie to me, but I wanted to believe it. Before he had a chance to question my response, I heard a voice call out to us.

"Pumpkin, Huckleberry! They're you are!" The four of us reunite as Maya grasps Lucas hand and says, "Are you guys okay? I heard the ride got stuck."

I spoke up and said "Yeah, it was okay. It made me a bit nervous when the ride stopped so quickly, but it was good otherwise." I quickly look at Lucas for confirmation and he says, "Yeah, it was fun. So, how was the Alextrom or what yuh call it?"

Farkle, still looking a bit green to the face, says "it was very, ugh, fast. But f-fun, right Maya?"

"You looked like you were gonna puke!" She said with a slight laugh.

"Well I would have been fine if we didn't go in the same ride 15 times!"

"Okay okay. No need to get feisty. You handled it okay" she says jokingly.

We head back to Lucas's truck and all pile in. It's now 2pm and we head to Brighton Beach for our next adventure and move on from whatever that morning was.
