Earlier That Morning
Topanga's POV

"Good morning, dear." Said Cory.
"Good morning." he kissed me on the cheek and started a pot of coffee.
"What's good this morning?" He asks.
"Riley's been under a lot of stress this week and I wanted to make her favorite blueberry pancakes."
"How sweet of you. I'm sure she'll love it." Cory ties his tie, puts his coffee in his mug, takes his bag and prepares to head out the door. "I'll see you tonight." He hugs me once again and heads off to work. Soon after I hear Auggies little field in the hallway come closer. "Morning, mumma!" He says joyfully.
"Well someone's happy this morning!"
"Yeah, today is our class field trip! I'm so excited!" Auggie says with his adorable little grin.
"Well breakfast should be ready soon. Go ahead and get dressed, buddy."
"Okay." He walks off to his room. Shortly after, Riley drags her feet to the breakfast table. I couldn't help but notice the bags under her eyes.
"Morning, darling. How'd you sleep?" I ask without pushing her.
"Okay I guess. My heads just hurting." Riley sounds exhausted.
"Well, I made your favorite! I hope you enjoy. I'm going to finish getting ready. I have a meeting with my client first thing and want to make sure I'm early." I leave Riley to her breakfast.

After a short while I return with my briefcase in one hand and keys in another. "Ready to go, Auggie?" He races to the door, turn around, hugs Riley, and continues back on his path.
"Have a good day, darling." I say looking at Riley in the most loving way I can. She gets up from her seat, hugs me, and says,
"You too mom. Love you."
I close my door and head off to work.

Later that day

When I get home, I find Riley's shoes at the entry way and her bag on the ground. It's not like her to leave messes, but I know she's been under a lot of stress.
Then I call out, "Hey, Riley. How was your day?"
I listen for a moment with no response. I slip off my shoes and head towards her bedroom. "Riley?" Still no answer.

I begin to feel my pulse rise. "Riley, sweets? Are you home?" I approach her door to find it closed. I knock still with no response. I open the door and say her name softly one more.
"Rile-oh my god, Riley!"
