NO NOT THE SONG THAT'S THE CHAPTER TITLE IT HAS LITERALLY NO RELATION TO THE SONG
This is a chapter that is pretty much part one of another chapter, which will be in the sequel... you'll understand more at the end of the chapter, probably. That's pretty much all I have to say. Enjoy!
Third Person POV (Following Zircon):
It was a mess. That was what described everything Zircon was concerned in right then. Right before the world flipped around, everything seemed sped up and out of place, or weird, or just confusing - the arguments that reached Zircon's ears, the claws flashing brightly in front of his eyes, the fear he felt around him and perhaps a little bit from inside him.
Everything was going by fast - too fast - Zircon couldn't comprehend it all. He would turn one way to see snarls and slashes towards Blister, then another and find Blaze trying to escape Burn, then towards a different direction and find tribes snarling at each other or tribes watching in fear. Then he would turn back to completely different scenes and have no idea what he missed - why the dragonets of destiny weren't in front of Blister anymore - why there was a SeaWing talking to Blaze - how on Pyrrhia there was a fire in the midst of the IceWings all of a sudden.
There were a few heartbeats of this chaos, this blurriness, this unawareness - and then suddenly, louder than all the screams, so loud in his head that it had him freeze and cover his talons in vain - the words of a spell.
There was chaos around him, a moment of not knowing what to do - a moment of being ordinary.
And then it was stripped away, and for a heartbeat he thought he would do anything to get it back.
Everything crowded in on his brain all at once, flashing before his eyes. His claws tingled; his breath got caught in his throat; he stiffened suddenly as the world as he knew it was gone.
Blister, killing Burn - Blaze screaming - Glory dying - Deathbringer sobbing - Blister raising her talons to the air - dragons gone, dragons dying, dragons begging for mercy - the end of the world - Blister dying - Blister ruling - Burn being crowned Queen - Zircon, dying - Zircon, very much alive but on the run -
All these possible futures flashed in his mind for a moment, and more, and three moons there were SO MUCH MORE.
Breathe, Zircon told himself, but for once he couldn't concentrate. Almost blindly, he looked around to see if anyone noticed anything odd.
The assassins, both still alive and not sobbing (thankfully) weren't looking at him, but rather at the three SandWing sisters.
Tribes looking over each others' heads to try to look at the situation.
Blister wasn't looking anywhere near him. No one was.
Except - wait - Anemone. Pale face, wide eyes, almost fearful. She and Zircon's gazes simply found each other. Zircon looked carefully at the young SeaWing princess. Probably wondering if her spell worked, he thought, because of course she had cast the spell - who else would?
The spell. The words of the magic slowly wrote themselves in Zircon's brain, clearly, as if they were in front of his face. They glowed a bright yellow and firmly implanted themselves in his skull.
Anemone suddenly went rigid. Her terrified expression disappeared, replaced by grim satisfaction.
Behind her, with the exact same expression (frighteningly, their grins were identical down to the very degree of the curve) was Blister.
