ME WRITING THIS CHAPTER ^^

I WILL BE USING ENGLISH NAMES FOR LANI AND ALL HER SIBLINGS AS THEY ARE IN SCOTLAND! PLEASE COMMENT IF THERE IS ANY CONFUSION ON WHO IS WHO AND I WILL CLEAR IT UP!

lani never thought the day would come, or she atleast thought it would come a lot earlier on.
if you were to make a time machine and travel back to 2013 and tell a young lani wilson that she wouldn't be known as lani anymore and would be known as 5ive, or the fact that she would become an inspiring icon and idol just a few years later, or the fact that she would never properly see her family again until the day she had to go back to scotland alongside her one older sister and her sister's boyfriend to say her last goodbye to her dying mother she probably would've looked you up and down before running away from you.

but it was all true. her bouncy legs settled into the hospital's rough waiting room seats as she took a strong wiff of scottish air for the first time in years. her tears glazed her eyes as her pupils started to sting, like the feeling after you wipe your eyes with something spicy left on your fingers.

she could've never predicted this day, or the day where her father moved back to scotland without her, sealing her fate as an idol, or the days just before where she left her members with nothing but a single note telling them about her hiatus, or the last day she happily spent in korea before her older brother elijah called her and told her about her mother's state.

if she could predict this day she would've spent months preparing for the moment where she would have to face her family again.
"i've missed you," klaus whispered to his younger sister.
his heart broke a little when lani finally looked up at him and he saw a piece of his mother infront of him.
"and i'm gonna miss you once you go back," he whispered again.
he held out his hand in a fist, like the fist bump they would do as children after lani's long fear of physical contact, but lani just looked down at his hand and done something she hadn't properly done in ages. she hugged him. she ignored the untrustworthy pit in her stomach and melted in klaus' embrace, finally releasing her vunrebility.

"it's your turn," klaus muttered as he walked out of the asigned hospital room.
she nodded and dusted her sweats off before peering through the curtained room. she was met with her mother hooked up to different machines and a soft smile on her face. deja vu crossed her mind as she fully contained her emotions and walked through the door.
she wordlessly sat down onto the side of the bed like she done after her throat surgery and squeezed her mothers hand.
"my little dove?" chaewon weakly croaked, "is that you?"
"i'm here ma, all the way from korea!" lani whimpered back.
"it must be your success blinding me! that's why i didn't recognise you!" her mother joked.
lani laughed but she didn't smile, it felt impossible to be happy when her true happiness was infront of her and slowly fading away.

"i wanted you to know how proud i am of you, how i've watched you grow through that little hospital screen and that i'm always cheering you on," chae faintly mumbled.
she shuffled up until she was sitting slightly slouched upwards, and shakily reached her fingers to cup her daughters face.
"look at how you've grown!" she traced her fingers over every little freckle, every little scar, every little blemish and wiped away every little tear that fell onto her hands.
the action made lani smile sadly, she had to cherish her last moments with her mother and she wasn't ready.
"i love you ma, and i wish i came back to scotland earlier, i'm sorry," she repeatedly breathed out the last two words.
"don't blame your self my dear," chaewon patted the space next to her on the wide hospital bed, "now tell me what your members are like."

lani leaned onto her mother as she told her mother all about her second family, about yeonjun and how motherly he is, about soobin and how amazing of a leader he is, about beomgyu and how charasmatic he is, about taehyun and how he feels like her friend and sibling at the same time, and especially huening kai, her bestfriend who has stood by her side for life.
"ah yes, i remember watching your c-crown music video was it?" chae asked herself.
nari nodded against her mother's chest, "your voice is beautiful my love, and i was blown away by your korean!"
lani felt herself choke out a sob at her full realisation of her last moments, and how soon her mother would be a thought in the back of her mind.
"now! get your sisters so we can take a girls photo," chaewon suggested, lani jumped at the chance and went to collect her sisters.

gianna snapped her head up in lani's direction and tilted her head to the side as she didn't see her brave younger sister anymore, she saw the remainings of her mother inside someone else.
"ma wants a photo of all of us," lani held out her hand to gianna, who bid a quick goodbye to hyunjin and followed her sister into the hospital room.
"just stay here right now," lani demanded before walking back out and soon coming back with a hannah resting on her hip and a lexi trailing behind her.
"my girls..." those words were like a button for all of them to break down.
they all positioned themselves around their mother and posed for elijah who held a camera.
the click and zoom of the polaroid camera signaled it was over and lani would have to say goodbye forever.

"i love you ma... and i don't think i can happily go on without you..." lani snuggled into her mother, the only person's embrace that she would except.
"you can make it my dove, just don't forget me with your fame and all yeah?" chaewon weakly smiled as she shakily squeazed her daughter's hand. "i love you to the moon and back..."
