Author's POV ♨︎

Heeseung had left. He had graduated a week ago and everyone attended the ceremony.

They all saw him stride up on stage as valedictorian and give a heart-touching speech to his juniors. The six of them saw him cheerfully hugging Geonu as he posed for the class photo while Ryujin attempted to kiss Yeji in the background.

The Batch of 2022

That's what they named them.

They all smothered him with gifts and hugs, joking about the four of them eating frozen Lunchables for the next four years and surviving on coffee. Heeseung and Geonu were going to neighbouring universities, while Ryujin and Yeji were going to attend one in Daegu.

It was a bittersweet day. Tears were shed and smiles were brighter than ever.

One week later, the six of them stood outside Heeseung's house, watching as he loaded his things into the back of his car. He opened his arms wide and the six boys attacked him with a hug. Jungwon and Niki cried while the others attempted to comfort them.

They watched him drive away with a heavy heart, wishing him the best of fortunes.

That brings us to the present. Jake sat in his room, Jungwon lying on his shoulder. Their dear hyung had left.

"How far is the University again?" Jungwon mumbled. "Five hours away," Jake sighed. Silence fell over them.

"We can still call..." Jake hummed. "Yeah, we can," he tried. Jungwon shifted to look up at him. "I'm going to miss him hyung," he whispered finally. Jake sighed and cradled his dongsaeng. "Me too Won, we all will." he consoled.

"But he's going to pursue his dreams and we should be happy about that. We won't lose touch, I promise," he reassured, squeezing the younger's shoulder. Jungwon hummed against him. "You better not go anywhere until next year," he warned, nodding a finger at him aggressively.

Jake laughed and pulled the fluffy-haired boy close. "I wouldn't dream of it."

Just a week after Heeseung moved, Jungwon had gone abroad for a family vacation with Jay. He knew it was just a short trip, but with the absence of his friends, he couldn't help but feel sad at times.

Things were not made better when his parents cancelled their plans to come to Korea for the summer and his sister couldn't visit him the following month.

He still had Sunoo and Niki of course. They invited him over numerous times. Niki would praise Jake for being such a nice hyung to bug Sunoo, who would immediately get pouty. The two would drag him around the mall to shop for new clothes and go to random merch stores together.

Oh and obviously he had his precious boyfriend.

They had been dating for a month now. Unfortunately, after their first date, they weren't able to go on any more due to their finals. Nevertheless, they still had study sessions where the two would work in silence. No conversing took place, but their presence was more than enough.

He remembered how the younger had tackled him in a back-hug once the exams were over. He was elated, to say the least.

Despite this, Jake couldn't help but feel lonely. He'd feel bittersweet when looking at the graduation pictures he had taken. He'd feel upset when he looked back at the texts his family had sent him. Jake was human, after all, he couldn't be that strong.
