Y/n was currently at work, she was doing her usual y'know, answering calls, Marking off papers, ext. She walked into Lin's office dropping week's work of papers on her desk with a big grin plastered on her face, "Done!". "You finished... weeks' worth of papers...?" Lin asked surprised. "You don't have to ru-." Lin was cut off by y/n. "Mom, I didn't rush it, I just wanna get my work done, alright?" Y/n said with a smile as Lin sighs complying. "Fine." Lin says before grabbing the stack of papers taking a look at the papers, Lin chuckled as Y/n raised a brow. "You put a sticky note of your Timelapse?" Lin asked with a smirk as y/n rolls her eyes. "Yeah! Don't make fun of me for it! It makes my stuff look colorful!" Y/n said as Lin chuckles. "I didn't say anything...!" Lin says looking away. "Here, these aren't important papers, there for new recruits grab and chair and mark who you think should be a part of the force." "Go Crazy." Lin says as y/n nods. She walks out the office to grab a chair before walking back into Lin's office as the officers grew curious. Y/n took a seat pulling out a bunch of colorful pens, at first Lin wasn't paying attention to her but then y/n started giggling and when Lin looked over, she saw Y/n drawing a funny face on one of the people who tried out. "You're so childish," Lin says with a chuckle as y/n shrugs her shoulder before giving him a Pink mustache. "Oh god, how'd this guy get so far, he literally looks so weak," Y/n says surprised it was this boy in his 20s but he had no facial hair, He looked like a child.

But she cut him some slack, his analyzations were great, he definitely seemed as if his voting's were strong, so she signed him as yes. She kept going until she saw Mako. "He actually tried out? And made it to the final selection, damn." Y/n said surprised rubbing her head. "I mean, he did help fight Amon." Lin confirms as Y/n nods. "I guess He's a yes then." Y/n says with a grunt. "He's not going to be my partner right??" Y/n asked as Lin shook her head with a chuckle. "Of course not, I'm your partner, safety reasons." Lin says as Y/n cheers. "Yay! I'm the chiefs partner!" Y/n says happily, finishing with the picking. Some looked weak, some looked strong, some looked strong but not committed, It was survival of the fittest, and Y/n was being completely honest. "Do you want to do the sparring part of the selection?" Lin asks out of nowhere, not even making eye contact just asking out of nowhere, Y/n looked so surprised but squealed and giggled happily. "Hell yeah! I get to beat weak ass kids up!" Y/n yelled as Lin shook her head at her. "The privileges I give you, maybe I need to start grounding you." Lin said with a sigh finishing up a stack of papers.

"What?!? Why!!! I like my cursing privileges!!"

"You curse so much, it like its your lifestyle or something."

"Long live cursing! It's a thing!"

Y/n was walking into the room with Lin everyone wasn't surprised you were with Lin, except for the contestants, not many people know Lin is your mother, you would be considered special to know. "Chief, so your daughter is the one sparring? What about her shoulder? Won't she be slowed down?" He asks as Lin shakes her head. "She'll be fine, she said her shoulder feels better, she went through her healing and therapy." Lin says as Y/n smiles. "Right then, I'll go do the usual, explain and then you can come in and do whatever." He says as Lin walks away from him with Y/n. "Give it your best out there, i want to see these boys scurry in fear." Lin says with a smirk and Y/n nods jumping in excitement before she could say anything she was cut off hearing. "You'll be watched by the chief, Lin Beifong." he says as Lin walks in Y/n hiding behind her, it wasn't hard seeing to the fact that Lin is tall. "You'll be sparring." Lin says cutting to the point as everyone gasped.
