Hiraeth / Swipe, Fuck, Leave
As soon as I step out of the building, I immediately spot Youens as he leans against his car.
"So.. you did it." He says as I approach him.
"Yeah." I nod.
"How was it?" He asks.
"It was pretty boring, actually." I answer.
"Get anything out of it?" He then asks.
"Oh, yeah. I learned a lot." I respond.
"Like what?" He questions.
"The people in there are pretty fucked up, definitely need to quit drinking. And I learned a lot of new clichés. One day at a time. This too shall pass."
"Keep it simple." Youens adds.
"Do the next right thing." I continue.
"Let go, let God. Yeah, they're big on clichés in AA. It doesn't mean they're not true. So.. can I take you to a meeting?" He asks.
"You going to meetings now?" I question.
He shakes his head, "No. I just said I'd take you to one."
"Never got that fixed, huh?" I point to his damaged car.
"Been meaning to take care of it. Come on, I'll give you a lift." He offers.
I look at the building in front of me one last time before getting in.
---
"Dying for a piece of pie?" Youens questions as he pulls up outside of Patsy's.
"No, I just need to talk to my sister." I tell him.
"Maybe you can get your job back too." He says.
"I'll try my best." I reply, before getting out the car.
As soon as I walk in, I catch Fiona's attention.
"Morgan!" She smiles.
"Hey." I smile back.
She walks over and pulls me into a hug, "You good?"
"Yeah, no, I've never been better. I got a pocket full of these AA chips." I reach into my pocket to show her.
"Do you want some coffee?" She offers.
"Yeah, sure." I then look at her arm, "What's with the tattoo?"
"Something to remind me not to be an idiot." She lets out a laugh. "You want something to eat."
"Uh, no. But I could use a job. I'm a little short of cash." I respond.
"I mean, I am short on waitresses." She replies.
"Great, send me the rota." I get up and pick up my coffee.
"That wasn't a yes!" She calls after me.
