SAGE watched Sookie and Jackson say their vows and kiss as their marriage finalised. Her stomach was the depths of the sea, eels squirming around, trying to escape the claustrophobic space. She glanced to Rory, who was dancing with her mother, and smiling happily. Lorelai stared drearily into the abyss. Her eyes were mirrors with tears and her lips was set in a downwards position. Sage had to leave this wedding right now. She couldn't take it any more. She had to see him.

SHE practically sprinted from the inn to Luke's, and slowed as she saw him stacking chairs onto tables. She banged rapidly on the door, and he opened it with a welcoming smile. Without delay, Sage engulfed him, and felt him tense up against her body.
"What a nice welcoming from someone who didn't give a shit about me whilst I was gone!" Jess joked.
"I kind of missed you, you idiot." Sage muttered, trying to conceal her blush on her cheeks, "So, how did it go." Sage attempted to make small talk. Jess looked unsure for a second, and then realising what his friend was talking about, grinned ecstatically.
"Ah, it was amazing, I never thought it would happen.." Jess' voice faded away to nothing but a muffled echo in Sage's ears. The room suddenly felt suffocating, as she tried even harder to block out his voice.
"..and then she just kissed me." was all Sage heard. She nodded. Deep down, Jess found a weird sensation, one of which almost made him feel unhappy about this. He had felt it when Sage had seen him at the wedding too, like his stomach was doing backflips, but in a way of guilt and wrong. Why was his heart telling him this was wrong, and his brain was telling him it was right?
"Luke was telling me about the dance thing." Jess said, catching Sage's attention.
"Yeah."
"You doing it?"
"Maybe."
"Okay." Jess mumbled, "Are you gonna be at the summer fair?"
"Uhuh." Sage wanted to hold a conversation, but it was too hard, "I better get going, I'll see you tomorrow, there?"
"Definitely." Jess smirked and Sage giggled at him.
"Bye Jess."
"Bye Sage."

THE loud marching band music could be heard as Sage and her mother strolled through the fair. Sage watched as her red summer dress flapped against her sides in the breeze. Upon seeing the Gilmore girls walk around the stalls, Sage restricted herself from going over to see the two. Sage and Rory hadn't spoken, or at least, Sage hadn't spoken. Her heart felt no interest to talk to the girl, after what she'd done. Rory didn't know, the girl was smart, but not with love. In that case, she didn't think. Just like she didn't think when she shattered both Dean and Sage's heart all at once.
"Why don't we go and say hello to the Gilmore's, Sage?" her mother asked, trying to encourage her daughter. Leanne couldn't pretend she hadn't noticed Sage's absence to the two girls, how distant she'd been. Leanne reckoned something had happened at the wedding, and how right she was, although she had no clue what it was.
"I'm good." Sage said, twirling her hair around her finger. Sage glanced over to a nearby tree, where she saw him, enjoying himself with a blonde girl about Sage's height. Sage frowned, almost feeling sorry for Rory. She noticed Rory's gaze on the boy aswell, she looked bewildered and upset. The girls locked eyes and Rory showed a small smile, only to be ignored by Sage. Sage could see her mother staring at Jess too.
"Boys only want love if it's torture." Leanne sighed, and Sage swiftly turned.
"What did you say?" Sage wondered, trying to make out what her mother had indistinctly murmured.
"Nothing, honey." Leanne lied, plastering a grin to her face, before Sage walked in the direction of the snow cones. Leanne's grin flipped upside down and she continued to watch the boy.
"Don't say I didn't warn you." she whispered to herself, observing Sage gladly smiling at the seller, knowing she was losing herself to this boy. Without a second thought, Leanne trudged over to the incoherent teen. Startling both of them when she approached, she began her lecture.
"You are a stupid, stupid boy! That girl over there," Leanne pointed to her daughter, who was smiling, but it wasn't as wide as it used to be, "I believe she is in love with you, so you better grow some balls, and make her happy, because she has been sad for god knows how long, and I think it's certainly because of you. So, please, ditch this blonde," Leanne mouthed a 'sorry' to the curly girl, who scoffed bitterly, "and go and get my daughter. Thankyou." Leanne strutted off, and Jess breathed out, very slowly.
