SAGE tried to speak, but nothing came out. Saving her, her mother answered for her.
"Yes she'll definitely be there." Sage looked at her shoes, flustered, before she heard the unmistakable sound of a boy of about age 17 rushing down the stairs. The two locked eyes as  soon as he appeared at the bottom.
"Hey." Jess grinned.
"Hi." Sage replied, hoping the redness of her cheeks wasn't to visible.
"Hey Jess, Sage's gonna go to the party you were telling me about." Luke said, motioning the girl who was elbowing her mother in the stomach for giggling at her expression.
"You are?" Jess' face lit.
"I mean, sure." Sage responded, feeling ecstatic about Jess' look when she told him.
"Well..that's great. See you there." Jess smirked as he brushed shoulders with the girl as he made his way to the door, holding a book in his hand and lighting a cigarette as it leaned on his bottom lip.

DARREN watched from the outside as he gazed through the diner window. He had heard everything. He couldn't have his daughter with him. He was a disaster. He brought nothing good to Sage. He was too much alike to a young Darren Robertson. He caught up with the boy as he trudged along the Stars Hollow streets.
"Hey! Kid!" Jess turned swiftly as he met the man's eyes.
"Yeah?"
"Tell me," Darren began, noting Jess' confused manner, "What are your intentions with my daughter?" Jess' face dropped as he realised who he was talking to.
"Oh, you must be Rory's dad.."
"No! What the hell is a Rory? I'm Sage's father, kid." Jess turned a bright shade of scarlet.
"Oh, you're Sage's dad?"
"Yes." Darren huffed, folding his arms over his chest and Jess now interpreted him as a frightening, towering and muscular. Jess felt small as he finally answered the man's question.
"Well, um.." Jess felt lost for words.
"Whatever, kid. Just don't get her pregnant and leave her in the hospital and disappear to Mexico." Darren placed an assuring hand on Jess' shoulder before muttering,
"Confía en mi palabra, no seas como yo." and he strolled off, turning round to say:
"Take my advice, son."
Jess took this as some inaudible shit. Although he tried to believe that what Sage's father may have said could have meant something, whatever it was he said.

"SO," Leanne sighed, tearing through Sage's wardrobe, "What are you gonna wear?"
"Something." Sage responded, her head buried in a book. Leanne turned and held a dress of Sage's to her body. Sage looked up at her.
"All your clothes are shit." Sage frowned, and threw her book at her mother's face.
"Oo!" Leanne said, although her voice was muffled as she spoke into the wardrobe. Leanne found the gem of a speckled white and red dress. She looked at Sage, awaiting her response.
"Eh."
"No." Leanne disagreed, "You are wearing this to the party whether you like it or not. Look, do you wanna get lucky again with Jess?" Sage gasped with a smile.
"Mom!"
"Okay, yes, so wear this, honey." Leanne chucked the dress to Sage who caught gratefully.
"So, will there be music at this party? A nice slow song for you and Jess to romantically dance to?" Leanne teased as she traipsed around the girl's room. Sage giggled.
"And then you could drop kick anyone who tries to take him away from you." Leanne laughed along at her own joke.
"Gee, mom, I'm not the freaking Black Widow." Leanne's face portrayed a look of astonishment.
"What?"
"Black Widow, the superhero? The combat one y'know-"
"I know who Black Widow is," Leanne chuckled, her eyes like saucers, "I just didn't think you would. How do you know Marvel comics anyway?" Sage cocked her head to the side, letting a grin escape.
"Aw, Jess is a cute little Marvel fanboy!"
"Not particularly," Sage defended, "Just a little. He's told me a few of the characters, I guess." Leanne just stared in awe at her daughter.
"Responding to your question, yes, there will be music. Lane's band are playing their first gig."
"Well, I'll be damned." Leanne said, "I'm surprised Mrs Kim even let Lane play a gig."
"Oh, Mrs Kim doesn't have a clue, she thinks Lane's at her Bible practice." Sage explained.
"Huh. Good going Lane."

SAGE couldn't decide if she looked better with the hair clip or without.
"Fuck! Shit!" Sage cursed loudly, stomping on the ground in frustration. She grabbed her bag and decided to leave the hair clip in.
"Bye Mom." Sage shouted, hearing her mom joke:
"If I was a man I wouldn't kick you outta bed hon!" Sage laughed before she got out the door, the streetlights illuminating the darkened streets of the town. Sage inhaled before walking to Kyle's humble abode.
