SAGE ushered the boy to her room. They tiptoed up the stairs, being careful
not to wake her mother, and her accompaniment, who Sage had learned to be her father. It seemed the two had decided to reunite. Sage led the boy to the door that had the words 'Sage's room' written over it in mismatched colours and fonts.
"Sage, what are you, oh-" Leanne emerged from her room, the sound of Darren's snoring echoing loudly.
"Mom, I-"
"No, it's fine." Leanne said, shocking the two greatly, and flashing a thoughtful smile at Jess. She walked back into her room, muttering to herself 'I knew he'd do it'. Sage tied back her hair and reached under her bed to retrieve a medical kit. Jess admired the girl's bedroom. The walls were darkened by the night sky, but when Sage flicked on the golden light, he realised they were a lovely shade of sage green. Jess wondered if the colour was an inside joke due to Sage's name. He glanced at the bookshelf that had many books stacked around it. Jess noticed the book of Jane Eyre, the copy looked like it had been torn and used a lot of times. He ran his hand across the soft floral bedsheets and the Yale stickers and banners strewn across the wall closest to him caught his eyes.
"I can't find it.." Jess heard Sage grunt as she fumbled about in the medical kit, "Aha!" she cried when she held up the antiseptic wipes and a handful of bandaids. Sage held his head back and Jess' breath caught as she ran her hands through his hair. He winced as the wipes stung his cut bruise.
"So, what happened? I thought you were at Rory's grandparent's house?" Sage asked, trying to make her touch as gentle as possible.
"I was." Jess told, trying to stop his eyes from trailing to her lips anymore, "I turned up 45 minutes later, and as soon as I got in, Rory started pestering me with questions as to how this happened." Jess bit his cheek, remembering how angry he had been, and still was. Sage sighed.
"All that matters is that you're okay." Sage reassured and Jess let a small smile escape his lips.
"Then she started saying that I had gotten into a fight with Dean." Sage furrowed her brow.
"What makes her think she can assume that?"
"Exactly what I thought!" Jess agreed, "So..then I came here, because, you were the only person that would...actually understand.." Jess lowered his tone. Sage grinned at him, both of them not realising they had started to lean in. Sage snapped back to reality and snapped her head back and both their hearts sunk.
"Uhh, you need a bandaid.." Sage reached to the side of her and the sound of the bandaid ripping off the paper went right through Jess. She carefully put the bandaid on his bruise and gently patted it down.
"Done." she grinned and Jess returned it. As soon as Sage had finished, she clicked shut the medical kit and shoved back under her bed. The two sat staring at the wall, both sharing glances at eachother, but turning away quickly when they both noticed eachother.
"Thankyou for helping me." Jess told her with an affectionate smile.
"It's fine. Honestly. Let me just check that the bandaid's on properly.." She climbed across him to reach his bruise. She secured it tightly and stared down at Jess.
"Hi." she whispered, her breathing increasing.
"Hey." Jess responded, only realising that there was a small gap between the two. The two's eyes flickered back and forth to their lips and their eyes. Their breaths became faster and less out of sequence in the moment. Jess decided to take control of the situation, closing the space. Sage was aghast, although as the kiss deepened, she sunk into it and she snaked her hands around the boy's neck. His hands found her waist and his hot skin touched hers, warming to it instantly. The two pulled away to catch their breath.
"I can't believe we're..I can't believe I'm..." Sage panted.
"Shut up.." Jess murmured, resuming the now familiar sensation of his lips on hers. He flung her back onto the bed, climbing over her. She ran her hands down his back and his hands dragged through her hair. Her lips felt soft and warm. His lips felt soft and warm. The two matched like the missing puzzle piece that finally connected with the other. Finally, the two were there, together, and they both wanted it to last forever.

JESS let his arm go under Sage's bare back, and Sage's fingers created patterns on his chest.
"What have we just done.." Sage said happily, her head laid on his chest, listening to his heart.
"I don't know.." Jess replied, the same happiness displayed by him as well.
