"What was Will saying?" Mike sighed, they all sat in the basement El layed on the couch next to mike "Like home... Like home...but dark?"
"And empty." Y/n added as she watched him stand
"Empty and cold." Dustin said befire shaking his head "Wait, did he say cold?"
"I don’t know." Lucas sighed "The stupid radio kept going in and out."
"It’s like riddles in the dark." Dustin looked up to the ceiling
"Like home. Like his house?" Mike asked placing the room
"Or maybe like Hawkins." Lucas offered
"Upside down." El told them quietly
"What’d she say?" Lucas adked
"Upside down." Y/n repeated
"What?"
"Upside down." Y/n walked to the table looking at the board on the table "When El showed us where Will was, she flipped the board over, remember?" She flipped it the back side showing "Upside down. Dark. Empty."
"Do you understand what she’s talking about?" Lucas looked at the boys
"No." They said in unison
"Guys, come on, just think about it.
When El took us to find Will, she took us to his house, right?" She continued
"Yeah. " Lucas nodded "And he wasn’t there."
"But what if he was there?" She continued "What if we just couldn’t see him? What if he was on the other side?What if this is Hawkins" she flipped it back to the normal side "and..." Then the dark side "this is where Will is? The Upside Down."
"Like the Vale of Shadows." Dustin stated it finally clicking for him, they looked at him confused as he grabbed mikes DND folder placing it on the table before reading from it 'The Vale of Shadows is a dimension that is a dark reflection or echo of our world. It is a place of decay and death. A plane out of phase. A place of monsters. It is right next to you, and you don’t even see it.”
"An alternate dimension." It clicked for mike now as well
"But... how..." Lucas furrowed his brows "how do we get there?"
"You cast Shadow Walk."
"In real life, dummy." Lucas fired
"We can’t shadow walk, but..." He looked at El "maybe she can."
"Do you know how we get there? To the Upside Down?" Mike looked at the tired girl, she shook her head 'no' at them
"Oh, my God!" Lucas groaned

"Just wait till we tell Will that Jennifer Hayes was crying at his funeral." Dustin told the three as they watched the girl sniff but Karen shushed them quickly
Y/n walked back from placing the rose she was given onto the coffin before walking to Joyce smiling at her sadly before hugging her for comfort
She went back to stand next to the group looking around for Steve but it didn't look like he had showed up
