Chapter 10

Third person's POV

On the other hand, Mina is now curved into a ball in a corner of the prison cell, crying nonstop, feeling self pity. How on earth did her life take a complete wrong turn like this? Only a few weeks ago, she was still a highly respected Princess, she was loved and she was spoiled. Anyone in the world would want to be her or be with her. But now, she is a prisoner who soon to be turned into a slave, serving her own enemy. Everything is like a nightmare for her, and she cries because she doesn't know when this nightmare will end.

After telling Yeri to stay outside, the Queen angrily walks into her own private Queen palace, where Head Court Lady Nayeon is always there to take notes of anything the Queen wants to be done around the whole palace. She sits down on her throne then she heaves a frustrated sigh,

'Your Majesty, what's wrong?' Nayeon asks,

'Nayeon unnie, why did you appoint that Kim Yeri to be my personal maid?' Chaeyoung asks,

'Because she is very capable, and Your Majesty, you call me unnie again, you need to call me by my title, you are a Queen now.' Nayeon gently reminds her,

'I know, I only call you unnie when there is no one else around. And that Kim Yeri, how is she capable?' The Queen voice's still sounds very frustrated,

'Why? What did she do wrong?' Nayeon continues to ask,

'She... she hits people out of nowhere.' Chaeyoung answers,

'People? Who did she hit? My Queen, you just visited the prison, so perhaps... that Princess from Macedon?' Nayeon guessed it,

'She is a slave now.' Chaeyoung corrects it for Nayeon,

'So My Queen, let me get this right. You made her a slave for revenge but get real angry when someone hurts her? How strange!' Nayeon says while holding her chin with her hand as if she is trying to figure out what is going on inside the Queen's head,

The Queen quickly clears her throat, 'Anyway, Nayeon unnie, please take notes of what I want you to do tomorrow.' She changes the topic,

After reminding Nayeon a few times of what she wants to be done, Chaeyoung stands up, 'Nayeon unnie, please do as I said.' She reminds once more,

'I will, Your Majesty.' Nayeon obeys,

The Queen then walks out, she still has another meeting with her government at the throne hall. Nayeon's eyes follow Chaeyoung until she's gone, she sighs deeply, 'So this is what "torn between love and hate" looks like. Haiizzz, Chaeyoung ah, do you have to walk on such a bumpy road?' Just like an older sister, Nayeon feels the pain that Chaeyoung is hiding inside.

Next morning, Head Court Lady Nayeon makes her way into the prison cell where Mina is, 'Remove the chain for her.' She tells the guards,

The guards walk over and remove the chain from Mina's wrists as told. Mina then stands up and faces Nayeon, a little nervous as she's not sure what is going to happen to her next,

Nayeon scans Mina from head to toe, she then smiles to herself, 'Now I understand why our great Queen is so torn. She wants to hate but she can't hate. I mean, how can you hate such an angelic face?' She thought to herself. Just seeing Mina for the first time, but Nayeon already wants to take care of her like how an older sister would,

'Follow me, I will now take you to the slave quarter.' Nayeon tells her,

Mina didn't reply, she is just quietly following the Head Court Lady. Stepping out of the prison, Mina feels alive again, not sure how her slave life will be, but for now, she is happy just to be able to walk again, to be free from the chain again, to see the sunlight and to breathe in fresh air again,
