"Y/N..."
His golden laced voice sang as he moved my hair away from my neck, his breath so close to my skin. I was on fire.
Everything we're doing is against what we were taught.
Against everything. My eyes were half lidded and my heart was drumming.

"I should punish you."
He brushed his lips on my skin sending a jolt through me.
"W-what?"
My mind was blurred, I couldn't think properly.
His hand on my chin tightened as he stood back up.
"First you start a fight with me about something you know I'm right about."

His other hand was trailing down from my hips, lower and lower.
"You disobey the one rule we made."
My mind was swirling with the touch of his finger as they circled on my thigh.
No. We shouldn't.
"We...We'll be late."
I sighed slowly pushing him away.

A bouncer stepped out of the back door. Clay clenched his jaw but backed away from me. The loss of contact made me feel empty.
Curse this life.
I made my way toward the tall and bulky man. He crossed his marked arms.

"You singing today?"
He asked gruffly. I nodded my head. Clay came to stand next to me.
"This is my umm..."
I stuttered not knowing what term they used.
"I see madam no need to explain. Go right on in."

We shifted past him and got trampled by the atmosphere. Incenses burned through the back rooms with perfumes and the smell of sweat and desire.
"What in Blazes is this Y/N?"
I heard him say behind me as a group of girls in sequins and feathers rushed past.

"A...club."
I said trying my best to find the manager's office. Where could she be?
Two girls sprinted up to me. Eyes dark with makeup and completely identical.
"You're on! You're on!"
They squealed while pushing down the hall.
What?

"No no I think you have the wrong girl I'm-"
"The stand in! Come on you've already been called on! We'll take your friend here to a seat where he can get a nice view."
One of them grabbed Clay's hand and dragged him before I could say anything.

Next thing I knew I was behind a deep red curtain. Holy nether hell what am I doing here?
Oh mighty Ender Dragon help me not to faint.
"And now the secret beauty of the night: Midnight Mockingbird!"
A bright light lit up on my face as the curtains pulled away.

A mic stood awaiting something. But what?
A song sprang to mind. One that I used to hum when I felt powerless after the Bonding.

"Clay?"
He lifted his blonde curled hair up from the king grass to smile at me.
"Yeah Darling?"
My heart was pounding.
"I...you know I love you. Forever."
He had smiled and hugged me so close to him.

"I love you too Darling. Forever."
Looking back now after everything that happened I wonder...did he mean control when he said love all those years ago?
As I sang I noticed the woman we were looking for all the way at the furthest table going through papers in the dimmed light.

She finished her task and went upstairs, supposedly that's where her office was. She suddenly made eye contact with me. A small movement from her hand signalled to follow her. So she was expecting us. Clay on the other hand was seated on the right and completely unaware of her, only gazing at me.
I didn't know whether to be flattered or furious with his full attention centred on me.

A blur caught my eye but not in time. The red cloak rushed up the stairs after our lead. Without thought I unhooked a knife and ran off the stage. Clay jumped up.
"Get him! He'll kill her!"
I shouted as I ran as fast as I could to the stairs. People started screaming as a man dropped dead on the floor. Two other figures appeared and started to shoot...arrows.

They have crossbows!
I dodged to the right of one. Clay threw his knife while boosting me up to the second floor railing. I clung onto the railing and flung myself over it.
The Red Assassin stared back to me, his hood and gas mask covering his face.
"Too late...Y/N."
His distorted voice echoed before he disappeared out of the window.

My eyes saw her: stabbed straight through the chest.
Dead.
