Alex's POV:

"Mom I swear to god, I am not wearing that!" I said, throwing the long blue dress on the side of the couch.

"Well you have to look good tonight." She stated, as she rounded the kitchen counter to grab the  long laced dress. "There... There are some more people showing up than we expected." She said, grabbing the dress, tracing the fabric in her fingers. "And I just want you to look your best."

"Mom, just because some more people are showing up than you thought, doesn't mean I should wear a full on bridesmaids dress." I stated, plopping down on the couch, while looking at her.

"Oh come on, Tiffany won't notice it's the same dress you wore in her wedding." My mom, laughed as she set the dress back down.

"That would be the first thing she'd notice, when we'd walk in." I said, standing up from the couch to head to my room. "She'd probably say something along the lines of 'Oh wow, Alex Abernathy wearing a repeat of the dress from my wedding??'" I mocked, trying to sound like our uptight family friend. Hearing my mom laugh all the way from the kitchen.

"She's too above that." My mom laughed out.

"Wanna bet?" I giggled as ascended the stair case.

"Hell no!" My mom shot out from the kitchen.

As I made it to my room, I looked at all the dresses in my closet. Pulling almost every one out. They either were too plain, too old, or not attractive enough to catch my teachers eye...

I unburied my phone from under neath the dresses and checked the time.

Okay... I have a couple of hours before the barbecue...

I clicked on Luke's contact and waited for him to answer, while I threw on a baggy t shirt and some tight skinny jeans.

"Well if it isn't my little friend, X." I heard Luke, sing on the other line of the phone.

"Hey, are you at your mom's house yet?" I asked.

"I'm pulling down the street now... why?"

"Pick me up. I need to go to the mall." I said, as I looked in the mirror, making sure I look half way decent.

"Ewwww. Do I have to watch you shop?" He whined.

"I'll buy you a boba tea from the food court." I bargained.

"I'll be there in less than a minute, walk outside, and don't forget your wallet." He shot out, only to then end the call.

I looked at the phone shocked, when I realized just how close he was. I quickly forced my foot through some sneakers, I adjusted just right, so I would never have to retie them. Then rushed down the stairs. Bumping into my brother running up the stairs...

"Woah!" He exclaimed, as he moved out of my way, "Where are you headed?" He laughed, letting me pass his sweaty body.

"Mall. Why are you half naked?" I asked, as I quickly descended the stairs, not looking back on my shirtless brother.

"Gym." He shot back, from behind me. When he then exclaimed again, right as my hand reached the front door's knob. "Did mom tell you who's coming to Stacy's thing tonight?"

"Yeah." I shot out, as I pulled the door open. "There's going to be more people than we expected." I reiterated, as I closed the door behind me.

Seeing a bright, cherry, red Chevy Camaro pull up in our drive way. I rushed down our front steps, and ran towards the car, when Luke honked his horn. Scaring me half to death, from the sheer intensity of the sound.
