The Director's office had never been that silent——at least according to Aria's experience. Eight of the Gifted students——excluding Pang, Korn, and Namtarn——were gathered inside, with Ms Darin at the head of the table.

Hearing the Director's story about the Ministry's cruelty and Ms Darin's lies about curing the students made her blood boil just by thinking about them. What more, then, that she was in the same room as one of those cruel people, sitting in between Wave and Joe, across from Ohm.

The Gifted XV was called a few moments after the video circulated on the internet. Wave and Aria came together with intertwined fingers, which most of them took notice of, but did not utter a word as they were too busy worrying about their leaked footage.

"Do not worry about the leaked story. I'm trying to find out who is responsible for the leak," she said.

"It's quite strange," Wave spoke up, "that you and the Ministry do not know who did it when, in fact, the most suspicious person is someone in the Ministry."

Wave was right. Only a handful of people knew that video existed. It shouldn't be hard for them——who possessed great power——to look for the culprit.

"Why would the Ministry do that?" Punn asked, across from them. "The damage caused by this is sustained by the Ministry."

"Enough." Ms Darin quickly got in between the two before anything bad could happen. She was well aware of the tension stirring between the group, and she did not desire for it to escalate. "I did not call you here to argue who did it."

"How are you going to twist the story?" Mon asked.

Ms Darin looked at each and every one of them. There had to be a way to claim that the video presented was false. In those days, anyone could make a believable edit and claim that it was true. That could be the answer they needed.

But the Ministry had different plans.

"We will not. We will accept that the news is true."

Aria's hands formed fists on her thigh. They couldn't do that without their permission! What would her friends and relatives think of her? A weirdo? A monster? Sol might have accepted her, but the rest? She didn't know.

Wave noticed her trembling fist. To give her even a little comfort, he took her hand and held it, massaging her knuckles.

Aria let him. Her grip on him was tight, but not enough to hurt him.

Even her classmates didn't know if that was a good idea. People in those days were close-minded to even believe that people with supernatural abilities existed. More so, they were almost incapable of accepting that they indeed existed.

"The Ministry sees that this is the most appropriate time for change to happen for the country, for every one of you," Ms Darin attempted to persuade the kids.

But Aria remained sceptical about the Ministry no matter how convincing the lady was.

"Going forward, you don't need to hide anymore. It's time for the public to know, no matter how they will react."

Shortly after that, the class was dismissed. No one raised a question despite most of them wanting to protest against the Ministry's decision.

Aria and Wave walked out of the room, still holding each other's hands. The meeting was done, their cake was still halfway done, and their green teas remained slightly touched.

As soon as they had exited the building, Wave stopped walking to face her. "Go do whatever you need to do. I'll see you at the end of the class?"

"I have nothing to do. What about you? Is there anything you need to do?"
