I thought of lies I could tell to save my skin but all the lies that came to mind didn't quite make sense. So how do I explain my situation to him without sounding weird? Hey, look silence scares me. No not that, probably something along the lines of I tend to be grumpy without them. " Amanda I expect you to respond when I talk to you," Daniel said after a while.

" Uhm I don't like the silence in the morning and without them, I get a little grumpy " With that Daniel looked at me as if trying to see if I'm lying but eventually just turn back to the road with a small nod.

The gentleman parked the car and left me to carry everything by myself. with his back turned to me I shot him with my invisible gun as he walked into the house. satisfied with my childishness I started to unload the car which took me longer than expected.

I happily packed everything into their respective places but I was even happier to connect my speakers in my room. I played one of my playlists as I changed into some shorts along with the yellow hoodie I bought today.

I was so pleased with my achievements for the day that I decided to treat myself by making a delicious dinner. I made pasta, small meatballs, and some green lentils on the side. I served it on two plates and put one in the microwave for Daniel. Hesitantly I made my way to his room. I knocked a few times before he opened up his door.

" Amanda? " he said as his eyes slowly scanned my body from head to toe. Which made me fill subconscious about my exposed thighs. " Come done for dinner," I said as his eyes snapped back to my face. I walked back to the Kitchen and began eating. Daniel soon followed and strolled into the kitchen.

I had already warmed his food up and placed it on the kitchen counter in front of me. Daniel took a seat eyeing the food suspiciously.

I admit I had my motives for making us dinner tonight but that did not involve killing him. I never got to ask what happened that night so I staged this dinner so I could get some answers. Daniel has started eating and I couldn't help but notice how his jaw moved as he chewed. "I have questions," I said looking down at my plate.

Daniel responded with an " mmhmm" so I took that as a go-ahead sign. " what really happened that night "

He gave me a small smirk as leaned back into the chair. " give and take huh, that was smart " he said as he wiped his hands with the cloth that was near him. " so tell me what do you want to know tesoro "

" everything" --- " Start from the bar " I say eagerly.

"Hmmm, okay let's see," Daniel said placing his elbows on the counter.

3rd person pov

Daniel watched as she pulled her face in an unattractive way as she took a sip of the whiskey. This reckless woman was very intriguing, to say the least, but it was just what Daniel needed as a distraction. Her shoes were on the floor beside her and he had to resist the urge to laugh at her carefree nature. Before he dwells further into her appearance she spoke " What have you drinking this time of the day" ---" If I may ask " she adds soon after.

Daniel has never been much of a talker but he didn't want to be rude to the naive girl. So all he returned was the question "What has you drinking this time of the day? "

Amanda looked at the godly man beside her with a little concern. She didn't want to embarrass herself to a stranger but yet again she really needs to vent. Plus he's a stranger. The probability of them crossing paths again is very slim. " My colleagues think I'm a prude," she said taking a sip of her drink.

" Are you a prude? "

" I don't think of myself as a prude more like a person who has more important things to do than to engage in meaningless activities," she says before taking another small sip of her drink. Her throat is numb by now and it barely burns like the first one.

He found her response very interesting and wonders what could be so important that she deprives herself of pleasure. Daniel himself was no stranger to pleasure and he couldn't imagine a life without it. The saying ' you can't miss what you never had ' would fit in just right in her situation.

" Important stuff as "

The alcohol has started working in Amandas' system so she had no problem disclosing her secrets to this stranger " Bills Daniel bills " - she sighed - " my Nonas has heart problems so I had to send her to the USA for treatment which is far from cheap... plus student loans and day to day expenses...I think it's safe to say I'm drowning in-debt " she finished with a humorless laugh.

Daniel stayed silent because he never knew how to empathize with people or how to comfort them. Lucky she spoke again before he could " Don't be mean Daniel, you know it's your turn.... what brings you here this time of the day " she said smiling at him as if she didn't just share sensitive information with him.

Daniel took one big sip of the drink and finished it in one go. Then he motioned for James to refill it " My parents have put me in an impossible could impossible situation" - he began while taking a sip from his glass - " They won't allow me to take over the family business unless I get married "--- "it's stupid but I know they are not joking " he said emptying his glass again. James happily refilled.

Amanda absorbed the information and couldn't help but feel sorry for him. She also thought his parents are probably just looking out for him. She couldn't imagine being in his position. She secretly envied him for having parents or people that only want the best for him.

They stayed in a comfortable silence drinking their problems away for the time being. James the bartender was low-key listening in on their conversation and couldn't help the feeling of pity that washed over him. On the one hand, Amanda is struggling to make ends meet so much that she is missing out on life. And on the other hand, Daniel has everything he needs to run his family company, the smarts, the influence, and the money but that's all useless now because he needs to marry before he can fully take over.

James has walked a long time at the bar and he has never come across such a situation. As his thoughts raced on, he found a horribly amazing idea and he voiced it before he could think of the consequences of intruding "Why don't you just get married to each other "

Amanda and Daniel both looked at him as if he had suggested murder " Look just hear me out" --- "You need money which he has and you need a wife which she could be "  he then proceeded to serve other customers.

Amanda was merely amused by the crazy bartender. If only it were that easy she thought but Daniel was desperate and was strongly considering the crazy bartender's idea. He was a businessman after all. It would be impossible to find a wife on such short notice. And like James said they both had something they could gain from this. Without further thought, he turned to Amanda who was slowly spinning in her chair like 5 year old.

" Let's do it " which made her stop and raise an eyebrow.

" Marry me, Amanda "

Amanda pov

Daniel stopped talking and got up to leave. " Wait you didn't finish the story, " I say as he was turning the corner into the corridor.
Without looking back at me "It's past 11 Amanda and we have work tomorrow" he said as his body disappeared.

I quickly washed the dishes and went to my room. Once changed I got in bed and immediately drifted off to sleep.
