Passing The Light

Behemoth

Ruby POV

The Behemoth roars as we all rush towards it. Yang and I fire at it keeping its attention. Meanwhile Jaune and Blake rush it swinging at its legs. It yips trying to claw at them. However Elm swings her hammer into the Behemoth's face launching it back. 

It slams into the mine wall shaking the entire place. It roars at us before thwipping its back our direction. This makes its back spikes eject heading towards us. We all take cover to avoid getting impaled.

Nora runs out of cover screaming and firing grenades at the Behemoth. It moves at lighting speeds dodging her attack. When it's safe it swings its paw cutting right through Nora's aura. She's sent flying back embedding herself  into the wall.

Jaune: "This thing's quick!"

Blake: "We gotta find a way to slow it down!"

I look at Weiss. She smiles nodding.

Weiss: "Hey, come get me!!!"

The Behemoth screeches trying to swat at her. She uses a yellow glyph to quickly move around avoiding the Behemoth's attacks. 

Ruby: "Keep it up Weiss!"

I turn to the others.

Ruby: "Blake, ready to try round up?"

Blake: "Just give me the signal."

Ruby: "On three."

She readies her ribbon. 

Ruby: "One, two, three!!"

I take her gun and push my semblance into overdrive. I blast away as rose petals heading for the Behemoth. With it still distracted with Weiss I'm able to wrap Blake's ribbon around the Behemoth's legs. When I'm done I duck behind cover.

Ruby: "Now!!!"

Yang and Blake both pull the ribbon. It constricts bringing the Behemoth's ankles together. It then tilts before falling with a heavy crash. It tries to get up but JR come in slamming their weapons into the Behemoth. Weiss follows up by using gravity glyphs to pin down its limbs.

Weiss: "It's all you."

I nod focusing. My eyes shine making the Behemoth scream in pain. It then fades to dust. When I subdue my shine we all share a cheer at our victory. We head topside where we are then flown back to Atlas' gymnasium. 

Ironwood: "All of you have fought for so much. Your school, Haven, your family."

I rub Y/N's feather.

Ironwood: "You've faced threats people can't begin to imagine. This bravery cannot go unrewarded."

Winter: "Therefore you'll be given your Huntsmen licenses... today."

Penny walks by tapping on a tablet. Our scrolls then ding. Looking we see our very own Huntsman license.

Ironwood: "I know this might feel ahead of schedule but we all know you've earned them. I only wish I could've done something more celebratory."

Ruby: "We're honored Ironwood."

Ironwood: "I'm glad. There's cake so feel free to help yourselves."

Nora: "Cake!?!?!"

She zooms to the table as we laugh at her. While everyone chats I sit in the bleachers looking at my scroll. I swipe through the pictures before landing on one in particular. It's of kid me with Y/N in his buzzard form. I'm laughing while he's squawking over his painted talons. I crack a smile at the memory when Yang joins me.

Yang: "Hey."

Ruby: "Hi."

Yang: "Going through memory lane?"

Ruby: "Yeah. I really miss him."

Yang: "I know. But think about it this way. He's in a much better place. At this very moment he's probably laughing with mom."

Ruby: "You think so?"

Yang: "I know so."

I fully smile as Yang puts her arm around my neck pulling me into a side hug.

Yang: "I'm here for you Ruby. And I always will be."

Ruby: "I kno-"

She begins giving me a hard noogie.

Yang: "I mean it Rubes."

Ruby: "Ahhh!!! My brain!!!"

I wave my hands trying to slap her. I just keep coming up short as she laughs her head off. We're suddenly cut off by an alarm.

Ruby: "What's going on?"

Ironwood: "All Huntsmen in my office."
