-2 months later-

When Gabriel awakened, and as he reached for her side of the bed, she didn't feel anyone laying beside him. He turned the light on from his nightstand, and that was when he saw she wasn't there. He turned towards the bathroom door, and before he got out of the bed, he glanced at the clock and it read five o'clock am. Gabriel walked to the bathroom, and as soon as he swung the door open, he scanned the room but did not see Nathalie anywhere. He was perplexed. He would usually find Nathalie vomiting in the bathroom, in front of the toilet, but this time that wasn't the case.

As he locked the door behind him, he realized she may be working downstairs in their office. Despite her objections, Gabriel insisted on her taking the day off yesterday, but she allowed her to work the next day. He raced out of their bedroom and descended down the stairs, and as he did, he saw that the door to the nursery room was halfway open and the lights were switched on. He looked beneath the door to their office but noticed that it was dark inside.

Gabriel turned towards the nursery and decided to approach it. He only peered to the door, but when he saw Nathalie was standing inside, he smiled and stepped inside.

He approached Nathalie from behind, and as he hugged her from behind, she jumped and whirled around, striking him on his head with the metal part of the lamp she was holding in her hand. She did not  realize that it was Gabriel. He backed backward, slamming against the dresser, knocking Nathalie's glass of water to the ground.

"What was that for?!" Gabriel exclaimed whilst he caressed his head.

When he focused his attention on her, he noticed that her eyes were widened, her hands were shaking, and she looked unsteady while she stood. Gabriel approached her, and reach for one of her hands.

"I'm sorry. I did not mean to scare you, darling...Are you okay?" he inquired, placing his other hand on her cheeks, caressing it.

She sighed, and looked at him worriedly, "I should be the one asking you that... Are you okay?"

"Don't worry about me. I'm fine," he said and gave her a reassuring smile.

Nathalie closed her eyes and gave him a hug, "I'm really sorry, Gabriel. I thought I saw somebody," she whispered.

His eye brows immediately furrowed, and his hands around her tightened.

"Is that what this lamp is for?" he asked.

Nathalie withdrew from him and nodded, "I woke up earlier, and I decided to go downstairs to get some water," she pointed to the broken glass on the floor, "Then I went to check on Gabriella and Blaire, and when I step foot out of the bedroom, I thought I saw someone run into this room. But I didn't see anyone. I think I was just seeing things," she explained.

"Nathalie why didn't you wake me up?! If someone was actually there, you could have gotten hurt!" Gabriel says, slightly raising his voice.

"I know I should have, but I hadn't thought of that, I'm so sorry." Gabriel grabbed the lamp from her and placed it on the dresser behind him. She gave him a smile and checked his head for any bleeding, but saw that there wasn't any, she just felt a little bump.

She a discomfort in her back and placed her palm on it, a high-pitched tone exiting her lips as she did so. Gabriel immediately carried her up and carefully placed her on the sofa.

He knelt in front of her and held her hands, "Nathalie I think we need to see a doctor... I don't think this is normal," Gabriel told her.

Nathalie leaned on the sofa's edge and placed her hands on his cheeks, "I assure you that everything is okay. Back pain is typical during pregnancy, especially in the early stages. I felt this same way when I was pregnant with Gabriella," she smiled, "but if you really want to visit a doctor... we have to wait two more days for our first appointment with Dr. Louna Roche. I'll make sure to ask her then... But I bet she'll say the exact same thing I told you." She took her hands away from his cheeks and reached for his hand, standing him up.
