"Tell me a story, papa?"

"What kind of story would you like to hear, little mouse?"

Athena tapped her finger to her lips, it had to be something good. A story of the ages, a story to beat all the stories.

She watched her mother walk into the room, placing a hand on her father's shoulder.

"A love story!"

The mother chuckled at her excitement.

"A love story you say." The father hummed.

The girl seemed to wiggle with excitement.

"Alright I got one." the father smiled as his wife slid into the small bed with their daughter.

"Better make it good Lucas." The mother smiled, while the father scoffed.

"As if MY stories could ever be bad." He smiled. "Okay, let's begin."

...........
..........
.........
........

There was a slow beep that resounded from where Athena lay. Her eyes were too heavy, she couldn't seem to see where she was. She wished to sleep again. She wanted to hear her father's voice again.

"Come back to me, my dear." something grabbed her hand, cold and soft.

She knew that voice, her mother was calling her back into her dreams. Yes, I'm coming mother.

Something touched her forehead.

Her senses kicked back in. Her fight or flight went into overdrive. Her eyes shot open. She was off the bed and on her feet before anyone could blink. She glanced beside her. A weapon she needed a weapon. She didn't know where she was. She was vulnerable here.

There was a small desk by the door, it had a coffee mug, books, and papers scattered on top of it.

She grabbed the table, her muscles screaming in pain as she threw it at whoever was behind her.

She grabbed her side and hissed out a breath as it burned from the movements.

The papers flew and the table smashed into the wall.

The female gasp was the thing that broke her from her weakened state.

The woman stared at her with some emotion. Some emotion that she would never see again. She knew those eyes, she knew that hair. Even with time, it had never disappeared it was scared into her brain.

A man stood next to the familiar woman. His blue eyes stared at her. She knew him, she knew him from a different life. A life where she wasn't a monster who killed anything in her path. She knew this man. Even if his hair had changed from the once coal-black, to a now salted color.

Athena held back a silent sob as her body shook. She knew these people, how could she ever forget them.

The two people, she thought she had lost stepped forward. Her walls broke, and she shook with the sobs that rang through her body. It was like she was in a hurricane. Her short breaths never seemed to make it to her lungs as her sobs rang through the room.

She collapsed. Maybe it was from the pain in her body, or maybe the pain in her heart.

The man's arms grabbed her before she hit the floor. The glass house of her soul cracked when that man called to her.

"It's okay, baby." he cried into her hair. The woman sank to her knees in front of her. Tears ran down her face. Athena's head fell to her knees as she clung to the arms that surrounded her.

"We are real, my love. We are here." The woman cried as she clung to the shaking girl.

Athena was no more than a shaking child, gone was the killer. Here lied the girl who thought she had lost her family all those years ago.
