Thomas' father. Once worked as an assassin for Queen Mab, exiled after he attempted to overthrow the court.

The stone mortar used to extract magical properties from herbs.

Glim
Pronounced as spelled.
An ancient book created by the Magi containing the accumulated knowledge of human magic orders over several thousand years. Its sister, the Nain, has been lost.

Fferyn
Pronounced "FREN"
A magical artifact created by the druid lords, used to channel the Veil.

Brunaidh
Pronounced "broo-NAYD"
Old version of Brownie, a broad classification of Fae, usually small, defined by their symbiotic relationships with other sentient beings and highly developed skills (usually menial or domestic).

Phouka
Pronounced "POOKA" or shortened to "POOK"
A broad classification of Fae, generally defined as sentient beings with observable characteristics of more than one species in their adopted world. Animals with this trait are referred to as Chimera.

Hags and Heks
Pronounced as spelled
A category of Fae, subclass of water nymphs, which are a subclass of elementals. Hags received their name from hexe or hexen, an old term for witch. Hags are distinguished from other water Fae by their predatory (and sometimes feral) nature.
