Once Wang Lei finished reading the contents of the letter, she went to the fireplace and burned the letter as instructed by her grandfather's words.
"Tell me about my aunt, Wang Xifeng", Wang Lei watches the flames flickering around and waited for Mr Chen to reply.
Mr Chen who stood silent as he waited for Wang Lei to finish reading the paper started to talk once more as he said, "Wang Xifeng is the youngest daughter of Old Master Wang and the little sister to your father, Wang Longwei. As you know... the women in the Wang family are sought after by many as they believed that their children would inherit the abilities of the Wang family members and because of that, Old Master Wang refused to let her venture outside ever since she was born but... at the age of 15 years old, Wang Xifeng was kidnapped from the mansion"
"Old Master Wang tried to do everything he could to rescue back his daughter but when they were finally reunited, Wang Xifeng had committed suicide and that was by the age of 18 years old...", Mr Chen had a sad look on his face when he said this.
Mr Chen was in charge of taking care of both Wang Longwei and Wang Xifeng when Old Master Wang was busy and he himself thought of them both as his children. So when he found out about their deaths, he felt a void in his heart. And now he is dedicated to filling that void by serving Wang Lei who was similar to the two in her own way.
Wang Lei digested the information and now could sort out some of the puzzles that she didn't know such as the date to the secret room beside her father's birth date which must have been her aunt's birth date. Yet...
"What about the pill that has been passed down to the family. Did she not consume it?" Wang Lei did not know how much knowledge Mr Chen had about their secrets but since he didn't seem fazed by the question, Wang Lei was now certain that Mr Chen might even know of her real gender at this moment.
"Although the pill was said to be safe, your grandfather was still paranoid as he remembered the previous generation's struggle to produce an heir. As you know... one of the side effects of the pill was that it would affect the menstruation cycle and possibly the fertility of the consumer...", Mr Chen looks at Wang Lei in the eye when he said this. "Old Master Wang waited for his daughter to reach the age of 10 years old before they had this discussion and since the Young Miss Wang Xifeng refused to consume the pill, the Old Master did not push this matter as he was also confident he could protect her until the incident occurred"
"I see...", now that she thinks about it. Old Master Wang treated Wang Lei differently as he told her to never be careless with the medicine. Now she knows that it was due to her aunt that Old Master Wang acted that way.
"That would be all Mr Chen. I need some time alone for now...", Wang Lei sighs and Mr Chen excused himself but both of them had their own thoughts from the chat.
Li De herself did give her warnings and assurance back then and thinking now, Wang Lei did not have any regrets about consuming the pill as being a male was more convenient than being a female at the moment. And as for the matter of her heir then it was too early to think of it right now. Not when she knows there was another family member that was trying to kill her off at the moment that is.
In the letter, Old Master Wang stated how there was someone aiming to destroy their clan and the person might be a remnant from the incident of Wang Xifeng's kidnapping. He mentioned how he had been careless as he overlooked something that was related to her aunt, Wang Xifeng's death.
They said that she died from suicide which was true as the doctor found symptoms of abuse and even r*pe which might have caused her to go into depression as well and prompted her to kill herself. But they didn't know that she also gave birth to a child and that child came back for vengeance.
Old Master Wang was furious when he found out that his only daughter had died and did not let any of the opposing clan survive as everyone lost their lives that night. But he did not realize that there was a runner who carried a child that was barely 1 year old back then and this child was the said perpetrator who also wanted the clan's destruction.
Old Master Wang listed everything about the identity of the child who was said to be Zhou Jian and said that he did not deserve to live for failing to save him. Wang Lei did not really know what he meant by saving Zhou Jian as he was clearly their enemy but all she knew was that in the letter... Old Master Wang stated that he did not want his grandchildren to kill each other.
Wang Lei clenched her fist as she uttered, "You know that would be impossible. How foolish were you when you wrote the letter grandfather?"
Although the two have the Wang family blood running in their veins, it was impossible for them to be a harmonious family.
Wang Lei was certain that Zhou Jian wanted the clan to be destroyed and non-existent while she was the opposite. Even Old Master Wang entrusted her to take care of the clan which is why he choose her as his heir right?
So what nonsense was it that he wanted Wang Lei to spare Zhou Jian when he was their sworn enemy? 'There can't be two kings at once, Grandfather...' Wang Lei thought as she stared at the fire that burned the letter from her grandfather.

I always have this thought that being blood-related doesn't mean you are close to one another. It can even be the opposite as besides the blood bounding them, everything else is different.
