The Start Of A War

Wang Lei decided to organize a meeting with the others (Except for the twins, as Di Yi was still recovering) on the next day. The others were surprised that Zhou Jian turned out to be Wang Xifeng's son.

"Elder Jin did mention that she might have given birth, but it would be a premature birth, and they never saw a baby when they rescued her, so they assumed the child was dead", said Li Xiaoli.

Li Xiaoli had met Wang Xifeng when she was a child back then, and the two were even quite close as they spent time together. When she heard about her death, she read the files repeatedly to check the information so that she did not miss anything.

Wang Lei nodded, "Grandfather said he was careless back then as he was too focused on his daughter that he had neglected his grandchild. Di Yi has already confirmed that he has red eyes, and judging by his fighting skills, the blood of the Wang family is indeed running through his veins."

Everyone was shocked and speechless. The room became silent as everyone focused on Wang Lei, who seems to be sitting calmly. But there was a tense atmosphere around him.

Li De was the first to break the silence when he asked, "What are you going to do then?"

Wang Lei scoffed as she said, "What else? Protect the clan like usual, of course. If he wants to destroy it, then we have to destroy him as well. As for Zhou Jian then I will honour grandfather's wish by capturing him first but if he resists then... I've done all I could".

Everyone nods in understanding and just when they were about to end the meeting, one of Yu Cheng's henchmen informed him that Xiong Cai who said he has a lead has arrived at the mansion.

Xiong Cai who was Wang Lei's friend was well known amongst the clan and staff of the Wang mansion so he was welcomed even Wang Lei herself told him to visit whenever he wants so Wang Lei called him inside when they knew that he had arrived at the mansion.

As soon as he arrived at the meeting room, Xiong Cai showed the picture that Chen Jingguo showed them before and said, "The man in the picture. I know who he is".

He then connected his iPad to the projector and showed the identity of the man and Hao Hu said, "Zhang Wen..."

Hao Hu normally has a lazy demeanour as nothing could affect him but this time when he said that name it was filled with loathing and hatred the others were surprised he could act this way. But not Li Xiaoli.

"Who is he?" asked Wang Lei.

Li Xiaoli was the one who answered him as she said, "He is part of the Xiang mercenary group and is well known as the current leader's right-hand man. But why did he meet up with Mo Junjie?"

"My recent client was someone who deals with weapon arms who asked me to wipe out their recent cargo from the government's notification and listing in Shaoping City. That was when I found out about this guy through the mark on their hands", said Xiong Cai.

Xiong Cai explained that in the picture Chen Jingguo gave, Zhang Wen was wearing all black and on his wrist, there was a symbol but it was half-covered. Xiong Cai mentioned how he remembered seeing the symbol before as it was a unique one and he couldn't forget about it thus when he came across that symbol once more he thought that this guy was familiar and remembered that he has a picture of the member (since Xiong Cai likes to make data about his clients for blackmail material) and after running a scan it turns out the person was a 90% match with the person from the picture.

"So he's the one providing them with the weapons then", Li De sighs.

"Good job Young Man", Yu Cheng pats Xiong Cai on the back.

Xiong Cai promises to help Wang Lei with whatever was needed as Wang Lei entered a contract with him. Although he wasn't part of the clan officially as he wanted to have different clients, Xiong Cai had promised to prioritize the Wang Clan and if there was any information that serves as evidence to harm the clan he was asked to report them to Wang Lei.

Xiong Cai explained that the client heard about him through his friends as they wanted someone smart and outside Shaoping City. Xiong Cai met the requirements as he was still a newbie in the hacking world but they didn't know that he had connections to Wang Lei which led the information to be passed unto her.

In a way, they were quite lucky that Xiong Cai was the one who got the job as he now has the information they needed and Li Xiaoli kept hounding the young man to join her team already but Xiong Cai refused as he wanted to test out his skills in the outside world first.

Now that they were certain the Xiang group has a hand with Mo Junjie's plan, Wang Lei began to plan meticulously but decided that they could not harm the Xiang clan yet as their priority now was the upcoming war between the two cities.

She hasn't even talked to Police Commissioner Fu yet about what they were going to do and since this might become a serious matter, Wang Lei wanted to bring Zhu Mingyu into the discussion as she possible might need his help.

Wang Lei was certain that the place where the war would begin would be bloodshed and she didn't want to involve any of the citizens in their feud as they were innocent.

 As Wang Lei got busy, she was rarely seen at the mansion and Song Lan who notice this could not help but become worried.

Mr Chen notices how Song Lan would often stare at Wang Lei's seat whenever it was time to eat and said, "Don't worry, Master Wang will be fine".

Song Lan did not know that they would be fighting as Wang Lei did not want to bring her into their mess. She entrusted Mr Chen to take care of Song Lan while the rest prepared for the start of the war.

When I wrote this chapter I realize I broke my promise... The romance barely started yet (๑╥w╥) So why did a war has to come???
