Chapter 13: Awake

"Shit they're here! Guys! Get over here!" I hear the voice of Dustin.

I try to open my eyes but I can't. I'm too tired to even move. The dried blood has practically matted my clothes to me.

"Where are they??" I hear my brother ask. Multiple pairs of footsteps surround me and I hear a gasp.

"Oh god Y/N... no, no, no this is apo my fault!" Another voice panics.

Eddie.

I'm lifted up from the ground slightly and placed into someone's lap. A gentle hand brushes my hair lightly.

Come on... I have to open my eyes. I try for a few minutes to open my eyes but it's no use.

Then I think of Eddie. My friends and family. I have to do it... for them.

Within seconds, my eyes shoot open and I gasp from the pain in my back. I completely forgot about my back for a second.

"Quick they're in pain! Help them!" Max exclaims and Eddie lifts me to sit up as the others take a look at my wounded back.

"M-max... you're a-alive." I try to speak without sounding in pain. I'm just glad that she made it out alive.

"Go grab some water and bandages from the car! Go!" Steve orders Dustin and Danny.

They rush off to grab the supplies.

"We're gonna need to take off their top." Steve quickly says thinking nothing of it.

Eddie shoots him a look which makes him raise his hands in surrender.

"Do you want them to bleed out? If not then you have to help me." Steve says back but all I can focus on is Eddie.

Eddie nods and switches to sit in front of me. He grabs my hands gently and tries his best to remain calm. I give him a small smile which he returns.

"Hey darling..."

"Hey. I'm- I'm sorry- aaaahhhh!" I try to apologise but end up screaming from the pain as Steve takes off my top.

I'm left in my bra/bare chested and I quickly catch Eddie staring at me. However, he is drawn from his staring as Dustin and Danny come running back along with Robin and Nancy Wheeler.

"What happened here?" Robin asks, kneeling on the floor.

Danny lays out a blanket and I'm placed down on my front so they could all take a look at my back.

"Right... Danny, Dustin, hold them down. Robin, Max, Nancy and I will treat the wounds." Steve comes up with a plan.

"What about me?" Eddie questions and soon, all eyes are on him.

"Comfort them." Steve smiles with a knowing look in his eyes.

Eddie wastes no time and lays down next to me, holding my hand. I can tell that he's worried for me so I squeeze his hand gently to reassure him.

"Hey."

"Hi." I whisper back, staring into his eyes once again.

But just like before, the moment is ruined when I feel my back sting from them cleaning my wounds. I clutch onto Eddie's hand as I go through agonizing pain.

"Guys you're hurting Y/N!" Eddie panics.

"Jusy hold on a little longer!"

I feel tears begin to fall from my eyes as I try not to scream too much.

"Sweetheart you've got this. You're gonna be okay. I've got you." Eddie lays back down next to me, inches away.

He brings his hand up to wipe away my tears. His touch makes me feel all warm and tingly. In a good way, despite my current situation.

Once they finish with my back, I let out a sigh of relief, feeling the bandages completely covering my back.

Eddie helps me sit up, sitting against the rock behind me as he holds me close to him.

"So what happened back there?" Nancy asks looking between Eddie and I.

"Those jocks came to kill Eddie. I tried to stop them. I think I hurt them. After, I felt faint and I ended up having a vision of an awful place. Vecna... he was there. He knew me somehow. He said he wanted to leave a message and did this to me." I gesture to my back.

"Wait, so you're telling me, he left those wounds just from some... vision?" Robin asks quite confused.

Everyone looks at me and I nod.

"More to the point, what did you do to stop them?" Nancy asks and I show her the tattoo on my arm.

Instantly, she understands everything. Everyone sighs in relief, knowing that we are all safe.

I lean back into Eddie as he plays with my hair. I rest my head on his chest, listening to his heartbeat.

This isn't the best situation to be doing this right now but I don't care. Eddie makes me feel safe. I never want to let him go. Ever.

"So what are you all doing here?" I ask, looking at the group.

"Well we came up with a plan. I don't think you'll like it. But Munson here... decided that we needed to find you. We talked the plan over on the way here." Robin smiles.

Eddie looks away shyly and rubs the back of his next. My heart does somersaults at his cute gesture.

I have to tell him how I feel.

Before it's too late.

"Hey guys... can I go for a walk? I need to stretch my legs." I ask. Eddie, Steve and Danny all stand up to come with me but I shake my head.

"I mean just me and Eddie. Alone." I look at them as if to try and get my point across. Steve looks confused but Robin throws me a quick wink.

Eddie and I walk off to sit on a fallen log away from the others.

It's now or never.
