"It's the end of αn erα."

Summer had gone by too fast. The first of August rolled around and although no one talked about it they all knew how it was going to end. Willow watched as the James family packed up the rest of their house into the two vehicles they owned. She tried to hide her tears when momma Aurora stepped out of their house for the last time, locking the door behind her for the next owner.

"I think that's everything." Aurora spoke with a sad smile on her face.

Maggie shut the trunk after placing her last box inside and made her way over to Willow. She hugged the redhead with such force that for a moment Willow thought her legs were going to give out on them. Maggie clung to Willow so tight that her fingertips dug into the skin of Willow's back. The red head buried her face in the crock of Maggie's neck and let the tears flow.

"I didn't realize how hard this was going to be." Willow sobbed and her body shook. Maggie clung to her even tighter as her own sorrow began to ripple through her body. For a moment the two could only hear each other's heart break. They couldn't tell where their own sorrow ended, and the others began.

"This isn't goodbye. Not for us." Maggie whispered when she pulled her head back just enough to show Willow her tear-stricken face. "A friendship like this doesn't die just because we're a sea apart."

"I know." Willow hiccupped, "I just love you so much."

"I love you too." Maggie mustered up her best smile and softly pressed her forehead against Willows. The two closed their eyes and stayed like that with the tears still flowing but for a moment they were content with the promise of their everlasting friendship.

"I promised myself I wasn't going to cry." Embry wasn't even looking at the display of friendship a few feet away from him. He was watching Quil, who was clinging with desperation to Maya. The trio had been best friends for as long as he could remember and for once he didn't know what would become of their friendship.

"We'll see each other again." Maya pulled back and spoke through her tears with her eyes locked on Quil. She speared a glance at Embry who gave her a short nod of agreement while he blinked away the tears.

At the end of the driveway, away from the others to garner any type of privacy, was Marshall and Paul. Even though both had agreed that breaking up was the best thing for them at this point, going through with it was harder than they had anticipated. The kiss they were sharing was nothing short of love, but the aftertaste was a lingering goodbye. Neither one of them was crying, maybe it was because they wanted to be strong for each other

"No matter how our lives turn out from this point on, I want you to know that you will always be my first love." Marshall gripped Paul's hand in his own, his lips grazing Paul's knuckles. Paul let his free hand trace Marshall's jawline lightly with his fingers. It was as if Paul was trying to memorize every part of Marshall so that he would never forget any part of him.
