"Hey Connie, I'm heading to the lake!" I call up the stairs to my best friend.

"Okay! I might come down a bit later." She replies.

"Alright! I've got my walkie, if you are coming just tell me before. I've gotta head home for more clothes later as well." I inform.

Me and a few of the other guys on the team have walkie talkies, so we can contact each other easily, especially if there's an emergency.

"Okay, see you at the lake!"

"Bye! Bye Mrs Moreau!" I open the front door with my skates in hand.

"Goodbye sweetie! Are you staying with us tonight?"

"No, I'm staying with Guy, if that's alright with you?" I reply.

"That's fine sweetie!"

I decided to head home first and then go to the lake so I could get it over and done with. As I'm walking, I walk past Mickey's diner where Ms Conway works in and decide to say hi.

I push the door open and hear the bell ding above me. "Hey Ms Conway!"

"Delilah, good to see you hon!" She smiles warmly at me.

"You too." I smile back, "Do you know where Charlie is?"

"Um, he was meant to be with a few of the boys today." She replies.

"Okay, do you know where?" I ask.

"N-"

She is cut off by my walkie, "Guys.... anyone.... there..."

"Oh, I think I have my answer. Thank you anyway." I say backing out the shop and grabbing my walkie.

"No problem hon. Bye!"

"Hey guys, what's up?" I talk into the little machine.

"Hey Dee!" A few of the boys call through the walkie.

"Where are you?" Guy asks.

"I'm heading home for a few things then to the lake, you?"

"We're going through dumpsters!" Karp says proudly.

"Gross guys." I shake my head.

"Do you wanna meet at the lake after your done?" Charlie suggests.

"Sure!" I smile even though they can't see.

"Okay, we'll call if anything changes." Charlie replies.

"You do that, over."

"Over and out actually." Averman corrects.

"Whatever." I look up from my walkie and start heading to my house.

Just as I am zipping my black duffel bag up my walkie starts blaring. "Delilah! Code Red! Code Red! For god's sake code red!"

"Chill Averman! What's wrong?"

"Hawks!" I hear Averman, Karp and Peter shriek.

"What have they done now?" I ask myself before replying  to the boys, "Averman give the walkie to Guy or Charlie. Or anyone who has more than half a brain cell!"

"Dee?"

"Guy!" I sigh, "What's going on?"

"We wer- dump-ster... Hawks-... Fult- Reed...." The walkie kept cutting out.
