With summer coming to an end Cherish saw and talked to Miguel less than she did at the start of the summer. Being on each other's good side meant Cherish was okay with talking to him less than what she was used to, leaving her to focus on her art.
Normally she'd spend a big portion of her time in New Orleans practicing self-defense with Hayley, eating way too many beignets, and spending time with her dad painting out in the French Quarter. Two out of the three being impossible and the last semi-impossible meant she and her dad had to find new places to go out and paint. Replacing a bad memory with a good one, Cherish suggested Coyote Creek and they painted the view the best they could.
Hearing about Moon's party from Victoria and Amelia who right away said they weren't missing it and she had to attend meant she was going to a party the day before the new school year started. That is if her parents would be okay with it, which led her to walk into the kitchen to get permission, "Mom?"
"Yeah?" Odette asks as she files the kitchen knives with a rock rather than with the machine they had in the garage
Cherish was suddenly very hesitant to ask her mom for the car "Uh, can I borrow the car?"
"Where are you going?" Odette reasonably asks which Cherish knew better than to lie
"Moon, a classmate, is throwing a party as a celebration of summer ending a senior year beginning. I was hoping to drive there..." Cherish trails off hopefully and it wasn't like the mom was going to say no
"Okay but you have to tell your dad where you're going my love," Odette strictly says not needing to give her daughter a talk about what to and not to do at a party since they've had that talk a few times
"Can't you like do that?" Cherish hopes with a smile, one her mom wasn't going to fall for
"No," Odette states giving no room for discussion "he's outside revising his lesson plan"
Cherish groans before walking out of the kitchen but not without reaching down to pet Snoopy who was laying on the skin matt. Once out on the patio Cherish sees her dad sitting with papers taking over the entire table making her not want to walk over yet she does
