Smothering and Punching

The storm was still going on when I woke up the next day. I could see the situation had only gotten worse. The television was still on, even though it was on mute. Dominic had fallen asleep on his chair, his face for the first time peaceful. But even then, he looked ready to attack. Even with his hair messily over his eyes like a child's and her face bearing an innocent expression, he looked ready to attack.

I wanted to put a pillow under his neck as I could see his neck lay in a painful manner, so, I did it. After carefully taking out all the IVs and god knows what stuff from myself, I took my pillow and made my way towards him.

I feebly took his head in my hand and raised his head a little to put the pillow beneath it. In an instant his fist came in contact with my jaw. I yelped as pain spread through my cheek and that caused me pain in my throat. I dropped the pillow and my one hand covered my cheek while the other clutched my throat.

"What were you doing?" he asked, his eyes running from me to the pillow.

"I was trying to smother you with a pillow!" I snapped but then instantly regretted it. He didn't know what I was doing. He took me for an attacker. "I am sorry, I was just trying to put a pillow under your head. You didn't look very comfortable. I am sorry," I repeated, my expression softened but tears of pain still made their way out of my eyes.

His face dropped and he took my hand that was covering my cheek. "Don't be so good to me, Eliana, I am not someone who deserves it. Everytime you do or try to do something good for me or to me, I end up hurting you. When will you learn?"

"Hopefully before I die, though not very likely. I have never been good at learning, and learning in a time bound; not my thing," I replied, trying to smile for his sake.

"You're not supposed to walk. Get some rest, okay?" I nodded sleepily. The rainy season always made me drowsy. If it were up to me, then I would never get out of bed. Well, there was the opportunity.

"How are you going to get home in this rain?" I questioned, yawning.

"I live close by. And don't be scared, I'll be back very soon. I just have to go to work, okay?" I managed a nod. "Alex will be here any minute." My eyes widened at that and my sleepiness disappeared.

"Alex is coming? Tell him to wake me up when he gets here, I want to talk to him!"

"Sure thing, princess. Get some sleep right now."

Hey guys, I am trying to save my life from Hitler. Well, not Hitler exactly rn, he's yet to come but Sanskrit is hard enough. You guessed it right, my exams are coming and I am not at all prepared, I don't know what to do and I am tired and I really want to sleep but I can't cause I had an interview today and my whole evening passed by in that and now I have to study but I can't help write.

Uh, life is so complicated.

Also, I would like to thank Ahmedabad Book Club for the interview. It was truly amazing, thanks Kosha Ma'am if you are by any chance reading this and the interview will be out this Saturday or so, so, stay tuned.
