[Wiz: Some of the greatest heroes of all are shunned by the very people they continue to protect.
Boomstick: Basically, the worst deal ever.]
"Indeex." Parasoul hissed. "I can't imagine anything more ungrateful than mistreating your protectors."
The human mind fears what's more powerful than it. That's just the way it is." Valentine replied.
[Wiz: Like Beast, the blue genius of the X-Men.]
"Huh. So he's not a wild animal like the guy Vitale calls Beast?" Cerebella asked.
"Wild animal or feral?" Nadia asked flatly.
"...Okay, he is a feral, but it's different, he really does act like a beast, he's really aggressive and hotheaded and wild and-"
"Bet he's the one they kept chained in their basement since he was five." Peacock interrupted.
"That's an urban legend, they never did anything like that!" Cerebella said vehemently. But then... the guy did always have what looked like a...a collar around his neck... And she swore she sometimes heard screaming and crying from deep downstairs...
[Boomstick: And Goliath, the gargoyle who gives new meaning to the phrase "tough as stone."]
"The only gargoyles I know are mere statues. Is this some sort of automaton?" Eliza asked.
"Nope! It's a cartoon character!" Peacock chirped.
[Wiz: Mutation. The key to evolution. The process is slow, normally taking thousands of years, but every few hundred millennia, evolution leaps forward.]
"But typically that would require some sort of disaster to happen." Squigly commented.
"Some people are early bloomers?" Cerebella shrugged.
[Boomstick: If that means we're all eventually going to transform into blue, hairy monkey men, count me out!]
"I wouldn't mind it. Lady friend might not appreciate it though." Beowulf chuckled.
"Hmph. So you found someone shallow enougn to take you." Double huffed.
"Hey. Roxie likes me for who I am!" Beowulf insisted.
"...Roxie...? As in... the one from my platoon?" Parasoul asked.
"Yeah! She's quite the woman." Beowulf replied with a smile.
"She never told me she was seeing someone..." Suddenly Beowulf got the sense that he may have gotten his girlfriend in trouble.
[Wiz: Feared by most normal people, mutants generally begin to show signs of their... uniqueness around puberty. Not so for Hank McCoy.
Boomstick: Yeah, the instant he popped out, it was pretty clear that something was different about him. Namely, the giant monkey hands and feet. Ooh, that must've been rough on the way out! He better give dear old mom double the presents on Mother's Day!]
"Eh. Depends on if she was a mom worth a damn." Peacock said candidly.
"Yeah, if she was mean to him, then she doesn't deserve presents!" Filia huffed.
[Wiz: Though Hank successfully hid his mutation from the world throughout his adolescent life, he was eventually discovered and shunned. Constantly harassed, and eventually kicked out of his own school, he was left to wallow in loneliness.]
Squigly winced sympathetically. "That poor, poor man... He can't help how he's born..."
"I am trying very hard to stop the prejudices between races... It's just so difficult..." Parasoul sighed.
